Why not focus on a vocation, like Electrician or Plumber? Then, if you're good at business too, start your own company and hire others to do the heavy lifting. Everyone I know in the construction trades drive fancier cars (& trucks) than I ever could as an Engineer with BS/MS degree, plus they have more to show for it in the long run.
If you just have to be an Engineer, get into Civil Engineering, obtain your P.E. License, and go to work for a City/State where you can earn a guaranteed Pension after 30 years of employment.

If you're capable of doing the course work, any major in the STEM fields of study. (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) They all have salaries into the six figures and jobs are in constant demand.

Many of the classes between the majors overlap which help with skill set development to cross over from one field to another. An example of this would be my cousin that graduated with an electrical engineering degree and his career evolved into software systems development. He's in his mid 40's in the Seattle metro area and pulling down over $200K per year in the medical devices industry.

You want to know which major in college will help you thrive in corporate world? Let's look at the real corporate world first: A couple years ago a PhD in engineering from MIT got RIFTed after 26 years of dedication to HW. Meanwhile an MBA about the age of his son got promoted to manager position and kept climbing the corporate ladder since. I've seen few incompetent engineers became managers too, they knew they would never be good at engineering so they focused on "other skill sets" instead. The moral of that true story is do not waste too much time and effort in studying engineering, get an MBA, learn how to bull$hsit, and honing the art of kissing a$$ instead.

@vou
Who do you call when your PC has an issue? I bet it is not another MBA guy. If you are like the untold hundreds of MBAs that I've worked with, I'd be surprised if you can actually wipe your own.......

@vou: Yea, you're the boss of all engineers. Clint Eastwood had a famous quote in one of his Dirty Harry movies about someone like you. "You're a legend in your own mind".

Pick an easy major for undergrad, then finish with an MBA. That's what I did, and now I'm the boss of all engineers and making a lot more than them. Let engineers think they are the "smart" ones, they are just simple minded engineers for the rest of their lives.

If you are passionate about technology, go into computer or software engineering. People complain about the salary at Honeywell but I am making almost 200k for being a Software Engineer and the work not being stressful at all with good work life balance.
