Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Voluntary layoffs

I'm hoping against hope the bank decides to offer voluntary layoffs with decent severance sometime soon. I'd leave on my own but finding a good job at my age with half-decent pay is harder today than it has ever been. I'm just a few years away from retiring but I'm no longer sure I can take this for that long.

Ageism in the workplace is alive and well at USB, if you qualify, a package is possible but an impossible to satisfy PIP is their favorite tool. Cheap and effective.

I waited two years for this, but it never happened. I just don't think voluntary layoffs are in their HR playbook. I think there's something to be said for accelerating people's retirement from the bank when they are no longer engaged and motivated to improve / move up. They do accelerate and pay out your LTI at 55 so I guess that's sort of a severance.

They will lay people off for sure ….I just a matter of when.
