Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

Afraid to say no

I really can't do this much longer. The way out is either to say NO or to start looking for another job, or both, because I think I would surely lose my job if I said no and refused to let them add more to my plate. How do you say no and not jeopardize your position here?

Someone in this thread just broke my heart. If they’re having trouble retaining people that means I’ll never get RIFed. Damn it!!!

You have to learn to say no. I have a coworker in middle office that she went to hospital due to chest pain from stress anxiety. So it’s either your health or their wealth

I just resigned from this pig firm! More money, a lot! This place is nothing but a cattle farm! They treat everyone like cattle ! They don’t care about you! Get out now !

They don’t care about employees, but as someone else said, so many have left Chase recently that they cannot fill the seats. Go for it and tell them no. But just be prepared for backlash that the managers there love to do.

No one has lost their job for saying no where appropriate. Review your bandwidth with your manager

That’s a bad response. They won’t care about your priorities or how much workload you already have. They only care about theirs so as long as you complete what they need, you getting overwhelmed is your problem. For the manager’s perspective, ofc they want you to handle 45678910 and more...

Instead of saying no, you say "Sure I can add that to my book of work, but here is what is on my plate already and I can only work on (1,2,3) of these at a time, so what do you want me to stop doing to prioritize this new thing?"
