micromanagement

This is new to me. I have been working here for a long time and I have never been under so much pressure as now. Why so much micromanagement? Control and monitoring everything only reduces productivity. Or perhaps that's their goal? To have employees leave under pressure? I wonder if anyone has found a way to draw the manager's attention to the fact that micromanagement is counterproductive and to get away from excessive control, other than by leaving the company?

@1zqy, why are you spending your time on this site when you should be working and minding your business. What's wrong, are you worried you might just be one of those micro-managers and what to know what they think of your management skills? All the down likers are clearly the problem. Let’s point the finger to someone else instead of taking responsibility

@1ppq+1eF9PtYb Actually no cause I deal with enough slackers I have to micromanage . I love how every complete makes the manager out to be the problem when it’s actually the lazy staff . Take responsibility

My boss randomly made me do facetime meetings on my personal phone. BNY too cheap to even provide me a phone. Guy was a d1-k.

Personally my team is not micromanaged at all. I literally hardly hear from anyone. Since I’ve started over a year ago they really hardly contact me at all unless I’m confirming a trade file with them or something. If it weren’t for confirming a specific trade file for uploading, I could go a week or more without speaking to anyone. That doesn’t upset me or anything just saying.

Are you hiring on your team? I'd love to apply (NOT IN A MILLION YEARS)

I feel your pain, brother. I'm on a team that is micro-managed to death, so much so that it's been the main reason why a team of 10 people has had 12 (12!) people leave (either transferring to other departments or quitting altogether) over the last four years.

My manager's manager overseas us and two other teams but really only cares about the other two teams he overseas and stays hands-off with any kind of direct involvement with us, mostly because he doesn't seem to know (or care) the full scope of the work we do so he can't comment on it.

I called a meeting earlier this year with him and my direct manager and tried to raise some objections that I and other team members had at the amount of nit-picking and increased requirements we've been saddled with over the last five years or so, but instead of considering my points he basically contested everything I brought up, which gave my direct ball-breaking manager a free pass to keep piling on the micro-managing sh*t even more so throughout last year.

I'm pretty sure that sometime this year, and very soon too, I'll be the 13th person to say Adios.

My managers use micromanagement to achieve unrealistic corporate goals, while utilizing the fewest people. Everyone is getting quite burned out. Some have left. More will follow for saner pastures.

Do your job and your manage won’t have to babysit you to make sure you are.

Yours truly,

Or maybe there is a reason for having to micromanage staff. How much staff in your area aren’t working or completely tasks like they should ? Cause I have several on my team. I also love babysitting because they have no clue how to arrive on time even when fully WFH. I can also tell you as a manager that it’s not staff who catches cr-p for things missed or not done. It’s us managers so think about that one before you complain
