Completely disagree with your hypothesis. Attrition, especially with legacy companies like ATT, has more to do with retirement, redundancies and yes, some resignations. Regarding the lack of loyalty of younger employees….that is a completely false assumption. Younger workers are no less loyal to their employers, they are; however, less fearful of leaving jobs that no longer fulfill their needs for things like salary, work/life balance, childcare options, education, social/environmental concerns, etc. They move on to jobs which are more aligned with what and who they are and what they expect. They don’t look for a job for life…why should they when there are so many opportunities to explore in life. And that has nothing to do with ‘loyalty’. In that way, they are smarter than previous generations. They’re more decisive and willing to take action to change their work situation if it does not meet their requirements ….far more than previous generations.
If you’ve not noticed, companies are not interested in hiring people who expect to work for them for their entire life.
Perhaps it’s time to reconsider your assumptions…..
