Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Why do you work hard?

Some say hard work is not valued and yet they continue to work hard. If investing effort is not valued, then why are there people who still give their best?

Let's be fair, if hard work really isn't valued, then no one would do anything more than the bare minimum, and that's not true. HW really isn’t a company like it was a few years ago, but I think people exaggerate a bit in their criticism.

I am an hourly factory person.

Mike makes a dollar, I make a dime,

They make me work 7 days a week all the time,

So I hold it all week and only take a dump on Sundays for double time!

Work smart, not hard!

it makes your trouble-making brown-nosing stick up the A$$ peers wonder how you manage it as they gnash their teeth and look for any little ch--k in your armor.

if they would mind their business and realize it is the manager's job to look for issues, not them, they would be a lot happier.

Been doing it for years, drives them crazy, its called having a handle on the requirements, knowing what you are doing, and doing what needs to be done.

Working hard is just my nature. At the end of the day, it's my signature on my work that matters to me and I'm not going to do a cr---y job. Yes, I put up with uninspired leadership from local "people managers" up through senior leaders, but that's not an excuse for me to do less than my best. I'm too close to the end of my career to develop a reputation of being a slacker just collecting a paycheck. I have my own self-respect to maintain, even if the company doesn't value it.

@OP

I know a guy that preserved $35+ Million in profit a few years ago (pre-COVID) for Honeywell. A supplier had de-committed a critical component delivery. The guy figured out how to get another supplier qualified before the production line went down and deliveries were missed. The guy didn't even get an email thanks and his accomplishment didn't show up in his annual review, even after he put in his accomplishments section. That's no exaggeration.

People work hard so the rich can get richer and the CEO can buy 500 dollar bottles of wine and a new yacht and several new 1,000,000$ mcmansions while they accrue health problems and a mere pittance.

Fortunately I dont work at this complete and utter shithole anymore. Honeywell can only steal from its employees and brainwashes thems into thinking that working endless hours uncompensated in something to be proud of while they accrue health problems. Its just one con game after another when its comes to Honeywell management and HR.

I work smart. That makes hard work necessary in the gym only.

Your "hard work" is my safe place from a horrible home life.
My wife got tired of mandatory weekends followed by furloughs and we started to fight. Then she fell and had to suffer through "counselling" to convince her to not get the surgery she needs. Now she is in pain and hates everyone. I "work hard" to avoid her.
Basically honeywell ruined my life and now i feel stuck.
Wish i was making it up... i'm not.
You asked.
