Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

My productivity will drop

Once we return to the office, I can guarantee you my productivity will drop. Not because I plan to do less as a form of protest or whatever, but simply because it is so much easier for me to do my work from home. I never managed to do as much at the office. I get more sleep so I have more energy. I have a dedicated office space at home so once I close the door, there's nothing to take away my attention from work. Meanwhile, there is always something distracting going on at the office. My helicopter manager is not half as annoying and overbearing when we are not in the same room. All of this and more means I can do my work better now than at the office. You'd think the company would want to keep it that way. But I guess not...

It's easy how they don't see it, they do, they just don't give a flying fck.

When I wanted to get something done (programming) I would go home to do it. I might talk it over first in the office, but nobody seemed to mind that my cube was empty most of the time.

agree! they get way more out of me at home -- no lost time during commute, no chatty colleagues sucking up my time, quieter/able to actually think -- plus, I work harder being grateful to have the flexibility. How do they not see this?? I cannot fathom why (or who in) management is so stuck on this. All I can think is that they really do want us to walk away to avoid paying packages and being able to say they did no layoffs (although they are in a few spots). My issue is that they tell us to come to work from their isolated offices, while they want all of us to sit all together in an open floor with others' germs and smelly food. Gross.
