Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Is it common to be forced to relocate to the new NJ office?

I'm curious how common it actually is for teams to be forced to have their members relocate to the new north NJ office. My manager has mentioned that we will be trying to source new hires for our team from new office location, but has stated that existing team members will not be asked to relocate. When I brought up my concern about us possibly being asked to relocate in the future, my manager said such a request was unlikely and that he was not aware of any other people or teams within Fiserv which had been asked to do so.

So I am curious, does anyone have any idea of how common this relocation request is for associates across the company? There's no way I am going to be able to move to north Jersey, so I am hoping my manager is correct in his belief that it is unlikely my team will ever be asked to do that.

Makes a good point about this being a form of age discrimination yes, this is a strategy to remake the company and at lower salary points with employees who are less vested in the company culture and knowledge.

A fa-t makes a statement by its mere presence as well. Is that what you are referring to?

Major relocations like this are a strategy to remake a company in a different way.

No one is “forced” to move. Anyone who is not interested in being part of the remade company should have job hunting on the top of their priorities!!

On office relocation. IBM tried it a few years ago, forcing staff to move into a few regional offices. This is age discrimination. Younger people can up out of an apartment easy and move easy. When young, too, you can do more. But older folk tend to have a mortgage, a home and ties to the community that are not easily broken. So this dumps the old ones really quickly.

Where is old team cbus?? Waiting on them to transform fintech and drive a 200 stock price by December. Still traveling? Instead of hiking have you heard of an airplane?

Not everyone will be asked to go to NJ. But you will be asked to get your @ss in a seat at some office around the country so just be prepared. You have plenty of options external to Fiserv if you choose to pursue them.

Sales is a travel position. Work from road positions get to stay remote. At least for now

What will they do with the sales people that are currently remote?

I think he needs 3k or so in NJ to to get the $109M tax break, I think the story will be NJ until we get that inked. Also, the 50 office count seems really high and does not highlight the lack of west coast office options for reloco.

Don’t be silly we have 50 offices in the us and don’t plan beyond what’s been communicated to relocate to NJ. By the way remember more than half of the new Park at Berkeley Heights will be occupied by Fiserv associates who were already working in one of the five offices closed in NJ.

Our Director level manager talked to all his reports about relocation..optional at this point could change in the future. Managed to get 3 to accept the offer. All new hires will be there and will be trained by the relocating folks.

I agree, Frank has an agenda. It doesn't seem to involve having remote workers. You will soon be asked to relocate at some phase of his plan.

I am part of accounts processing from
Open solutions division. We were told we are not remote anymore but no additional info yet. Word is maybe second quarter the layoffs start. Unless you are an astronaut then you are remote “indefinitely” but teams only have so many. And it’s a secret as mgmt are cowards and don’t want to tell the rest of the staff you aren’t good enough to stay.
Start looking no one is safe!! I’m interviewing again Monday.

All of Accounts Payable Client Services is under the move to office. Many to NJ. Some are being allowed the option to move to the location where their manager is. We were told by upper management that this is the plan for all of Fiserv.

My team was told we're permanently remote two years ago. Last year we were given the option to relocate or take a severance at our given end date, no more WFH. It's definitely happening
