Thread regarding Ford layoffs

SPIN, a Ford subsidiaries lays off 25% of staff

Yup. Friday 1/7/22 about 200 people were shown the exit based on a restructuring to profitability they say. I was caught off guard and surprised. A lot of people pi---d off to put it mildly. Oh well. It’s pretty poorly run anyways and the “People Ops” team is not People friendly.

Not to mention the $$ Ford saves for not providing the Cold brew at Fairlane.

Nobody cares about this. So what if Ford bought them and got rid of the dead weight?

Simple fact the current ICE F-Series still makes 90+% of the company profits. I hear all this talk about sold out EV F150s. Ok but how much do we make per unit minus the government subsidy? As for smart mobility, well we are way behind the plate on that one. Personally, I do not want my data sold. tired of the bs Emails. Fix our quality, execute our product launches. Otherwise, we are out of business.

@nkr+1eIMWJKP laughable and clueless comment.

Just goes to show how clueless management is. Instead of focusing on core business they toss money out the window right and left, hoping that there will be some nugget found along the way.
If they would of spent even a quarter of all the wasted time and money truly focusing on the core business, improving quality and building what the customers actually want, imagine how profitable the company would actually be ( we would not need to generate fake profits each quarter). Oh well, last North American Engineer, turn off the lights.

Another stupid Ford move. Buying a losing venture when we could not afford it. Bringing a bunch of useless to the overall company employees on-board when we were dumping skilled core business staff. Purchasing a scooter company when cities were complaining they were becoming urban litter hazards. People were getting injured on them. City citizens dumping them in rivers, lakes, and oceans. Yep, typical Ford brilliance.

@jvr+1eIMWJKP all modeling by the big boys shows Ford’s Market Share continually declining. By 2030 Ford Market share is projected to be a max of 8%, By 2040 5%.
The Chinese Auto Manufactures will dominate, they have leap frogged Ford and GM. Only Tesla leads the Chinese in innovation and success. What do Ford and GM do? Hire politicians and lawyers to try to slow down and eliminate Tesla with legislation and such.

No consumer is interested in a poor quality data brick. Reliable, safe quality vehicles are the customers first priority.

Instead of addressing corporate culture problems that result with 50% of employees just being pigs at the trough, Ford arbitrarily cuts the most expensive employees (typically older, or best skilled) and ships all jobs off to lower cost countries. Smacks of desperate chickens running around with their heads cut off.

Watch some of Sandy Munro videos where he disassembles EV vehicles. Tesla’s are well thought out, elegant simple designs. Fords look like summer interns hot gluing whatever parts were in the parts closet together. That glimpse tells one which vehicle will be more reliable. It also tells one which company will have higher profit margins.

You are completely wrong. Smart Mobility is the way forward. Data, autonomy, electrification, and UX are going to bring in profits not seen since the early 2000's at Ford.

Have a little patience for a change.

I feel very bad for the 200 people and their families. I went through this myself and I would not wish that on my enemy.
BUT.....and sorry for being so direct....... but in my humble opinion, after all that happened since Mark Fields' exit, if you are still at Ford, it is YOUR fault, not Ford's.

For others - there's still time to jump off this sinking ship.
Good luck all!

Scooters are so 2020. Smart Moblity needs to lose that number of unnecessary employees another 100 times.
