Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Benefits of being a long-term employee?

Since Fiserv changed my vacation to unlimited from accrued, what are the benefits of tenure with Fiserv? The only thing I can think of is a larger severance, but from what I understand that is capped. I know lots of things tenure doesn't do: give you larger raises, protect your job, provide better work life balance, etc. If there are no benefits to seniority convince me why a person should stay with FIserv.

Good luck getting any of that time off approved! It’s nice to have unlimited time off when you can’t ever use it

"Right before my office was closed, Frank changed the severance policy to one week per year. I got 11 weeks because I was 2 weeks shy of 12 years. I remember actually wishing I had been laid off in the previous RIF because I would have had almost 6 months of severance."

What an absolute ghoul. Talk about kicking someone when they're down.

I worked for First Data until 2015 when Frank decided to consolidate and close offices. I had been with the company for 12 years and in that time I watched (and often cried) when many of my talented, hard working colleagues were laid off. Frank had already forced remote employees into offices and then laid off those that would not or could not move. We had layoffs in my office at least once annually until the staff dwindled to all top performers. Most of my colleagues that went before me got 2 weeks for every year up to 26 weeks. Right before my office was closed, Frank changed the severance policy to one week per year. I got 11 weeks because I was 2 weeks shy of 12 years. I remember actually wishing I had been laid off in the previous RIF because I would have had almost 6 months of severance. I guess what I am saying is if you stick around, not only will you be working harder to pick up the slack but you may get screwed out of half your severance if Frank changes the policy. He did it at FD. He will do it at Fiserv too.

In past layoffs - you get two weeks of PTO for every year you've worked there, plus two weeks for the 'layoff' it's capped at 26 weeks total I believe. I've heard you then have to sign a contract waiving all of your rights to get said pay out.

Why should anyone here convince you? I think you are at the wrong place if you want that.
