People Behaviour from Imperial > Houston

This is my personal opinion Houston people are arrogant don't know how to talk and send email treat BTC like $hit. On the other hand Imperial people are nice and friendly.

No one in North America is going to make it easy for an overseas office designed to replace us with low cost employees. USA starting salary is $95-105K depending on discipline. The company is only chasing cost. If the BTC cost go up it will move somewhere else.

The time difference is unworkable for everyone You are considered a “sweat shop” and the management thinks of you like a “call center”. There is no career here and stop pretending XOM management of employees care.

We are all busy now with about a 30% staff reduction in the last 2 years. We do not have time to manage remote workers.

Sorry but no one here will do anything to make your life better.

KL engineers that I worked with complained about IOL engineers who were not flexible in meeting times and asking KL engineers to stay up late, sometimes after midnight. I don’t think it is possible to generalize any observations

Canadians are often stereotyped as an overly polite country, so this shouldn’t surprise anyone.

So the problem with this is that Canadian affiliates are often seeded with US-based management, who then promote local people who behave like themselves (i.e. other toxic managers), so while the vast majority of Canadian employees are quite nice, once you go above CL25 or so they tend to be as insufferable as their US counterparts.

Years back when EM was still number one and Chevron was chasing us I attended one of the UNC classes. Spoke to some of the staff in the dining hall and was told they dreaded the EM classes due to the arrogant and demeaning attitudes from many of the participants.
