Can any Managers shed light on this? What's it for? Also who determines our bonus amount?

All teams are stack ranked. Additionally, we plan on who might replace us and working the bottom quadrant up or out.
this is why you always rank yourself as exceeds exceeds b/c your manager can only give our 1 maybe 2 per team....

It's true - heard it from multiple managers. Give them enough ammo to battle it out for you or you'll get peanuts
Of course they are! What division are you in? All the bankers are forced ranked based on metrics defined by the head of the LOB. There are excel spreadsheets that track their production all year long that are shared with HR. That is how they are paid.
Many managers will tell you - hey bud, you are in the bottom quartile, time to get those numbers up!
Even in staff areas, the employees are forced ranked by manager. Maybe some managers are lazy, but has always required us to enter into the system with rationale for comp.
