Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

WARN notice

Someone asked a good question - With all the layoffs going on, where are all the WARN notice filings?
I'm wondering the same thing.

To be clear the WARN Act is Federal legislation. "The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act helps ensure advance notice in cases of qualified plant closings and mass layoffs. The U.S. Department of Labor has compliance assistance materials to help workers and employers understand their rights and responsibilities under the provisions of WARN."

I was in Lake Mary and received a WARN before my last day. Sounds like they only have to give to laid off 2 months before last day. Maybe Beaverton would get one? I think other remote won't because they weren't part of a Fiserv office.

The Beaverton office build out could not have been cheap. Never got to see it in person. I was on to better things by the time the Hillsboro office closed.

Some trivia. The old Hillsboro office was the 'official' location picture on the Fiserv wikipedia page up until 2019. Lol.

The closing of the Beaverton office is particular interesting because that location was only several years old and had recently completed a costly remodel of the building. Checkout the following URL from the general contractor that shows pictures of the lobby.

Then one day, POOF - we were all instructed that we would henceforth be fulltime remote workers. This all happened during the early months of the COVID pandemic.

What about Lincoln, Frisco, Dublin, Alpharetta, and Brookfield? Is the ultimate plan to move everyone to New Jersey?

Similar to Lake Mary, the Beaverton office in Oregon was closed and it sounds like it was similar in size to Lake Mary. Many in Beaverton worked in the Card Services and Digital Channels BU’s.

@qfm+1eMi7Fs4 The entire Lake Mary Florida office closed last year and those working remotely are now forced to relocate or are getting laid off. If an entire office closes they are supposed to report it to the state. Especially if 50 or more employees are impacted by it. There are exceptions but they don't apply here. They have no WARN notices filed for Fiserv for this year or last with the State of Florida. I checked.

@zfb+1eMi7Fs4 Lake Mary. The entire office closed. At last count that office had over 800 people that reported under it. Granted a lot were hired to work remotely. The closest other office is 4 hours away and not an option for a lot of people.

Can you name one location that had a layoff of 50 people or more?

The number of employees needing to be laid off to cause a WARN notice is HUGE for a large company. Like most companies, when needing to exceed that number, the lawyers keep a watchful eye, making sure thresholds are not exceeded. Large batch, wait 90 days... large batch, lather, rinse, repeat. Very rare for companies to do 'the right thing' in this regard... because the law doesn't generally require it.
