Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

They don't care at all what employees think

I used to think that Chevron cared about what employees thought about this company, but now I think that it doesn't matter to anyone anymore. Nobody seems to care about the reputation of this company anymore. Perhaps I'm wrong?

Chevron was once a great company to work and grow. It is still a good paying company but with a lot of mistrust and confused employees. I don't ever see it being as one of the best places to work in the US for the near future or as long as MW and RM are in place.

Is that what this site has devolved to, a therapy session board for wokesters? I guess we can pray that they clean house in the next round of layoffs and get rid of the useless butthurt woke & diversity deadwood.

Hooray to @gwk. This is the new Chevron, created by MW and RM and social initiatives. While MW and RM are worried about their diversity quotas (and what the San Francisco press thinks of them), Chevron employees have developed their own initiative. Not Agile, but Minimum Effort Necessary (MEN). So now when the trendy are melodramatically worried that MEN are dominant in Chevron, they are correct.

Employees don't own the company but we have to get past the attitude that everything must be given to the shareholders no matter what bad effects it has on Employees or their community. Its time Employees and the community we operate in be considered more by management. The shareholders are given enough as it is.

Op, why should management care about what emploulyees' opinion?

Management role is to make decision that is best for the company [highest return for share holder], working bee employee has little insight beyond his/her day to day job, if you have better insight and understanding then you should be on higher career ladder and be parr of decision making management! Stop whining like a baby! Employees do not own the company!

They pay me just enough to stay and I work just hard enough not to get fired. It’s a mutual agreement,

Did you just now figure out that they don't care what the masses think of them? Roughly 85 to 88% of the corporation just has a job that can be taken away at any time. Save your money and forget about all townhall meetings. I haven't watched or listened to one in years.

@pqc+1eMmeo6F In some ways yes. People like MW want to cut costs at all costs. If he can pay employees less, take away benefits, layoff, and work people longer he will as he thinks this might raise the stock price a penny or allow him to raise that dividend a penny.

Is there a correlation between employee welfare and share price?

Current executive management doesn't care one bit about the employees or what we think. They are laser focused on raising the dividend and share buybacks and anything else just doesn't matter. Prior leadership seemed to care some but MW has brought a new level of not caring about employees. Wall Street loves the guy and that means no care for us.

@brb+1eMmeo6F I agree with you man! People just don't understand that we live in a country of freedom. We have the freedom to give everything we have to a company and they toss you aside whenever they feel like it. We have the freedom to live for the company and they control every aspect of our lives because that's true freedom I fight for. They can make you miss any important life moment because they want something and thats the way I like it. Asking for anything better is being a liberal cry baby. We should all be working non stop to make sure people like MW live lavishly and can get anything they want. We were designed to serve people like him and we need to keep it that way! Take that commi liberal thoughts of having worker protection elsewhere!!! Freedom!!!!

When I look at the standard of comments here I have to ask myself why I’m still here. I can do better than this. I need to move on - onwards and upwards.
