Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

How good is your relationship with the manager?

If you have a good relationship with your manager, you could just be honest. I have a friend who adopted a baby a few years ago and was planning on quitting to be a stay at home mom - she went to her boss (knowing that layoffs were imminent) and asked to be laid off. She said if it would help someone else keep their job, she would volunteer to be in the group that got laid off since she would otherwise quit anyway. He was very nice and when the layoffs happened, she was one of the 3 who got let go and she got a nice severance with unemployment. And she probably saved someone his or her job.

I pulled this from thread +1eGje3Ul because I liked this story a lot. Unfortunately, my manager is totally different. Is it really possible to have such a good relationship with your manager here at BofA?

Yes. They’ve been great at letting me be flexible during the craziness of the last few years and have also gone to bat for me when it comes time to promote/pay.

My last manager offered lots of praise for my work and flexibility, but failed to ever deliver where it mattered with pay and bonuses.

There are good managers for sure, but sometimes you have to seek them out. However, alot of the time they are limited by the senior management (who are not so good and don't even understand our business.)

Mine are good, my manager says he is super involved and invested about me and my growth. I hear that in our meetings but dont see that on my paycheck's. Guess this is another good style of managing.

My relationship with my manager is... excellent. I work here because of my manager. Seriously talented lady with a ton of industry expertise, I can confidently say I wouldn't be here without her guidance and I will follow her anywhere she goes without a second blink.

BofA better keep her, which funny enough, she's unvaxxed.

Yes I’ve heard of this happening. I think it depends on the department and who’s in upper management… & of course if your manager is advocating for you request to leave.

Yes, i have a good relationship wih my boss. and all the other previous bosses I've had. There are good ones out there.
