Manager told me in review that Head of LOB is “looking at hybrid”

Maybe we have a chance?

I have not yet RTO, was scheduled to return Jan. 19, yet it was pushed back. I have heard that in my group, there seems to be an "unspoken" hybrid arrangement with people working in office 2-3 days a week, while some others seem to be going 5 days a week by choice. Nobody is saying anything to those only coming 2-3 days a week. One co-worker (edge case), mentioned he's only been to the office a "few times" since Thanksgiving, and just continues to WFH.

it's funny how they are suddenly "looking into hybrid" after the supreme court shot down the biden mandate. We could've saved a lot of time (2 years!) if they just would've gone down that path when all the employees were asking for it!!! they will never listen to us. they will listen to their legal team first. we were not asking for anything unusual, right?

First of all, love the hash tag above. Second of all, this is too little too late. Much of the best talent have left the bank months ago and a likely second wave is coming after the bonus period. They need to match flexibility that best talent is now experiencing elsewhere which includes fully remote. The bank is riding the wave of the US economy and past momentum for now, but eventually the organizations with the best brains, innovation, and productivity win.

So I’m in a “customer facing role” I put in quotes since I don’t actually meet with people I just talk to them on the phone. Before they sent everyone home my teammates were in the office five days a week without an option for hybrid. We do home loans for a living. The people that process and underwrite our loans if they were back in the office were all working a hybrid schedule. I feel that just because we talk to clients on the phone they were not giving us a hybrid option. I really don’t understand this since those of us on the team that are not back in the office yet have been working at home and hitting goals for almost the past two years or however long we have all been home. So how could we not work hybrid too? I’m happy for all you all the might be getting hybrid but please hope we all get it. I know management wants to watch all of us but our environment at work can be stressful we can be fired/written up if you we have our phone out at our desk. I would have thought this rule would have gone away by now. I laugh about it since we have all been home with our cell phones, personal computers etc. so not being allowed to have it now due to security risk is funny. While I’m on my soap box I know other roles that have equal access to client information and they are allowed to have their phone out at all times. I think if and when we are back in the office adjusting to not having my phone handy will be the hardest. Good luck everyone. Charlotte employee.

My LOB has already implemented 2 day in office / 3 day wfh. But now it’s pushed back due to RTO being delayed.

Yes, there are discussions happening to move to a 3 day in office model.

FWIW, I’ve heard this a few times. Looks like management is going to loosen up on this at some point. Possibly some other changes. I think the management changes we’ve seen will benefit us a bit.

Each LOB exec has some control over their LOB. Not unlimited control though, and it's highly dependent on value the business brings in, staffing levels, and other things.
