The main issue with IBM is that some people are carrying the weight while others do close to nothing. Why can’t IBM put an emphasis on performance and fire underperforming people. Reduce the deadweights at the company. Most of these people can be replaced my interns even. Also cut the dividends on the stocks. Use these two methods to generate more cash flow and pay the employees a competitive salary.

Ak is ceo as well as chaiman of the board, same with ginni.
So how can ak fire himself.
Well said @flz+1ePuVM5x
A great question for our next CEO hours
Here is an idea. Since many VPs and GMs job is just collating information from their reporting chains and creating charts, what if we replace them with automated analytics tools that can do their job and do it much better?
It is high time the board fired AK and his cronies.
CHECKPOINT is pure SH-T!!! My manager never discussed checkpoint with me thru the year, didn’t know what I did. Finally gave up and never joined my cadence calls, didn’t want to look like a fool!!!
@flz nailed it correctly
How can we get rid of our semi retired-board and bloated management ?
OMG, so well said @flz
semi-retired board and bloated management
I have a friend, he's 62 and he owns bunch of IBM stock.
He tells me "IBM's great, that stock has been good to me"
All he cares about is the dividend...
He and folks like him are the reason they still pay the div... If they were to stop, it'd be the end - all of them would run and sell and that'd tank the price.
If the price tanks there will be no bonuses for the top layer, hence there will never be a div stop
What a NOOB.
The '93 layoffs were performance based.
Then IBM wanted to get the older higher paid people off the payroll. Suddenly, older 1 and 2 performers were getting 3's or worse.
When I retired the majority of the dead weight in my project were H1B1 visas and IBM would not touch them.
You cut the dividend and the stock tanks and executives don’t get paid!!! IBM has successfully backed themselves into a corner with pit bulls ( Google, Microsoft, Amazon, etc) surrounding them! GOOD LUCK!!!
IBM HR has a terrible performance management system called Checkpoint where no actual outcome is valued, and only clueless managers' inputs are accounted for. That may be the reason they are not cutting the deadweight or more likely they can't even correctly identify the deadweight.
Interns? You mean replace them with more executives kids.
Sounds like a first year business under grad. Here is another great idea for you. Why don't IBM sell more.
Maybe you are the deadweight?
By deadweight you mean our incompetent ex/current CEOs, semi-retired board and bloated management. Yeah how do we fire them ? Please enlighten us
