Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Your job is what you make of it

You can make work your priority and give the company your best and then some just to see it pay you back by treating you like dirt OR you can do just enough to not give them a cause to fire you and enjoy the extra time you get to spend with your family and doing the things you love. Sadly, too many people chose the first option, which is why we are in the situation we're in.

It is harder to be lazy when you are at home. When you are in the office you can have very long conversations with your coworkers. That is being lazy with a two time multiplier. You are having two people not work. Can't get the multiplier when I am home alone.

Sorry - this thread is pure baloney. I worked hard to get laid off for being hired and then laid off as a remote worker!

Based on the promotions I've seen in the last year (or two) it pays to be less productive. Instead of going above and beyond you need to drag your work out by months. Make the simplest things seem complicated to senior leaders and report out on how much effort you are putting into the project. With any luck you'll be promoted before you complete the project and can pawn the actual work off on another.

I know lots of people who are sitting back and doing nothing. Funny thing is they are in the office! lol. Almost everyone I talked to is looking for another job, so there is nothing wrong with looking on Fiservs dime.

I agree, and honestly, I don't see anything wrong with putting in an effort at work which is commensurate with what you are given and how you are treated. It doesn't mean you have to constantly slack off and not be productive, but it also doesn't mean you need to go above and beyond on a regular basis for a company that clearly does not value such efforts.
