Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Another great program ATT could do is tobrefinance

Educational Debt for employees. I would love to have my $135,000 undergrad and grad debt refinanced by my employer at a much lower rate. Would send a great message to employees and potential employees from Top Universities.

Paid my way thru college while working full time with T, now paying for my daughter with a 529 plan I've been funding since 2005. Student loans set up most people with lifelong debt. Personal finance should be a required class in high school.

You ungrateful self centered, “it’s all about me” whiny little douche bag! Now you want T to go into the banking business to alleviate your financial burden that nobody told you to incur! You took on that debt that nobody put a g-n to your head to do it! Deal with your own financial problems you live at home little snow flake! T is not your Momma or your a Daddy! It took me ten years to pay off my school loans at 6% with no help from anyone! Figure it out on your own and leave T out of it!

I would be happy if the government just reduced the interest rate. I am a single mom of 3 and I don't expect anyone to pay off my debt but a little lower interest rate would be great, that is what is ki----g me. I guess I will survive either way but lower interest would be a huge help!!

Have you people looked at how much debt att is currently holding? They are selling companies to pay down their debt and you want them to pay off your loans? Trust me you don’t want att to pay any of your debt off. Nothing is free when dealing with att.

Just received notification Biden is actively forgiving student loans for many qualifying individuals. If I am not included in the federal government forgiveness, I hope AT&T will eventually include student loan forgiveness as part of their benefit options.

Pay your student loan debt off now like I am doing. Got a great 6 figure income at T, working from home, living in parents basement. Already reduced my loan from 127K to 83K. It can be done if you choose to do it. Believe me, you don't want to default on your student loan.

I’d love for ATT to pay off my mortgage! Great idea! Then I could retire. “Hey, could you give me $400k so I can pay off my debts and retire please?” I’m sure that’s not going to happen.

Loan forgiveness? Pay off your student loan, and then you leave to go work for another company in six months? Let’s face it, the number of new hires who leave within 2 years is high. Why would a company give you hundred of thousands of dollars when there is no guarantee you will return the favor in your work contribution? Isn’t your salary intended to pay off your expenses?

WOW! May I suggest financial peace university. I see beans and rice in your future. We were given two feet to stand on our own, continuing or voluntarily going into debt allows you to be the "slave" to the creditors. You have allowed yourself to accumulate this. During the great resignation there will be plenty of people changing jobs with no need to pay off school loans.

I have been deferring my student loan of146K. Dont want to start paying if there is a chance that T will participate in a student loan forgiveness benefit. It would really be a great plan if T participates.

188k in debt to work at AT&T? Wow, not much ROI from that plan.

OP why don't you moonlight as a b-m and stand outside your office before and after your shift holding a tattered cardboard sign asking for handouts? In fact, with your attitude you could probably make that your full time job.

Just remember, some of us had no daddy to pay for our college tuition. We are the less fortunate ones. I see no reason that companies should not provide student loan forgiveness, after all, they are getting a well educated, well rounded employee that will propel the company well into the future.

Incurring debt for college = bad plan/decision in most every case. Bless your hearts for making a bad decision!

I have a better idea - as a person who got my undergrad/grad with no dept and put my 2 children through college without any debt. I would like - oh, let's say - $250K as a reward for my good decisions. How does that sound?

I'm sure you would love someone else to take care of your responsibilities. If not T how about the American taxpayer?

That's the problem with you snowflakes, you take no personal accountability.

We are not looking for handouts. There are many people like me with tremendous student loan debt. It's just a matter of time before most major companies offer loan forgiveness as a fringe benefit for hiring well educated employees.

Are you freakin' kidding??? Put on your big boy pants and clean up your own house. Stop looking for someone to bail you out. You created the problem, you need to fix it!!!

Im in fairly deep at about 188K. I agree, would like to see more employers, including T, offer total loan forgiveness.

More helpless, pathetic folks with no personal responsibility.
Maybe they could pay your rent, or your mom's house payment.
Folks like you will never succeed.

That’s your own fault for taking on that much debt. The company actually has a very good tuition reimbursement policy for both management and occupational employees. I finished up my undergrad and went through grad school and only paid about $1500 out of pocket. You can’t expect them or any other company to take on all of your bad debt.

Forget refinance, everyone I know with student debt, myself included, will settle for nothing less than 100% student loan forgiveness. Companies are getting desperate for employees like me, they will have no choice but to include 100% student loan forgiveness as a fringe benefit.

AT&T can't even manage their own money like adults. You expect them to manage your debt load too?
