Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Sneaky HR

Anyone else notice the new covid FAQ they posted and did not inform the employees that is was released?

They revised a lot of it and the tone of the text sounds like HR is really ticked at the anti vaxxers.

I have one of those old timey scuba helmets like in the cartoons. I was hoping I can wear that when we get back in the office.

Those are not the mask options. You can continue to wear your Ford issued surgical style mask, add a your own cloth mask over the Ford mask, or wear your own N95 or KN95.

Grow up.

The mask options are now:

  • Ford branded clothe mask (proved to do nothing!)
  • Adding your own clothe mask (no logos allowed!) over the Ford mask.
  • Or your own N95 or KN95 mask

So the new mask policy is so serious that the additional options are "optional" and "provide your own". ROFL!!!!

So to the last poster, nice try, this new mask policy is essentially "We (Ford) are changing nothing, but feel free to spring for your own extra mask at your personal expense!"

JOKE

Just released, we have 3 mask options now , including a respirator …because omicron is so easy to transmit.

Bet you can’t tell them you want to wait for the latest offering from Pfizer that’s supposed to be out next month though.

So if anyone thinks this madness is ending soon , think again

The bitterness of the pro-vax comments is very amusing. As your narrative crumbles and your belief in the authorities is proven to be misplaced, you pathetically take comfort that Ford is moving ahead. Why?

Does it make you feel like you made the right choice? Does it give you reason to hold on to your perceived moral superiority? Or is there another pathetic excuse you tell yourself?

I think this is an agreeable way to give our workforce a needed haircut on the right side of Dunning Kruger curve.
Just saying ...

Hurry everyone, get the vaccines before it is too late. At the rate people are catching and getting over the Omicron sniffles, people will start to doubt management and the scientists in HR.

They make a point about saying they are having discussions with represented employees.

By the time it comes to any serious negotiations this will be over and Bill will pull an Emily Litella…” never mind “.

So true. Bill mugs up with the UAW president every 4 years and gives away the farm, then screws the salaried employees and retirees. Meantime, the Ford family pulls down huge bonuses and keeps their preferred shares and no one can touch them. Then Bill sends all of the salaried employees to DEI training so he can shake hands with Democrats publicly and pat himself on the back.

Eventually they say a big F -U to all their salaried employees, so I wouldn’t celebrate your “ victory “ too much ….

What a disgraceful “ leadership” this company has.

Using the EEOC really shows what a weasel Bill Ford is. Maybe he’s up for a Cabinet position, he would fit right in

All you have to do is look how they roll things out lately? Did anyone notice after the recent packages how They stuck it to the retirees? Same pattern with full time employees. regarding Dental another benefits. Oh, by the way more reductions are coming. Notice no announcements about it. I give Mark Fields credit. He had a pair.
Farley the so-called car guy! Legend in his own mind. Does not have a set. Mark gave advance warnings when cuts were coming.
I guess we are not a family after all Mr. Ford.

Yeah this is nothing less than Bill being Biden's puppet. If it was Trump pushing a mandate Ford would be on the front line fighting it. That's why Biden driving a Lightning is in every company video. Disgusting.

I find it ironic that other major manufacturers (General Electric - which makes over half the jet engines and other components for our own military) one of the largest service companies in the world - Starbucks, and the top major hospital chains, plus entire Countries (UK, Ireland, etc) have all backed away from the mandates - yet here is Ford.

Wonder what this is really telling us - that Ford upper leadership are really out of touch and tone deaf to likely 4@ to 50 percent of what their employees AND customers think and care about? Or are they just really really really desperate to keep in the good graces of the government in case they need a bailout (which we all know is likely within 2 to 3 years). Something just doesn’t seem right in this case given the tenor of people everywhere turning against COVID mandates - seems incredibly risky to me.

Not hidden. The policy has been posted on the home page since November. The updated policy is posted in the very same place.

The main purpose is to reduce headcount. It also feeds Bills ego for “ protecting the community “.

It may be over for some but for others the mandates are just starting.

It was not easy to find - had to use search feature, and then still had to go to another link when the search result can up. Some Highlights are below:

Updated January 20, 2022
U.S. Vaccination Requirements and Exemptions

"Are all Ford U.S. employees now required to get vaccinated?
Effective November 10, 2021, the majority of salaried, non-represented Ford employees in the U.S. were required to be vaccinated or seek a religious or medical accommodation. As of January 2022, the date by which employees must complete the final dose of an initial COVID-19 vaccination series has been updated from January 4 to January 28, 2022."

Sneaky is being very kind - they updated in Jan 20th, yesterday, for a final date next Friday. You need something like 3 to 4 weeks between shots, correct?

"Why is the timing of the vaccination requirement being extended to January 28, 2022?
The timing is being extended to ensure all employees who are not vaccinated or have not submitted an accommodation request are able to speak to a member of HR before any decisions are made about unpaid leave"

So there is still time to request an accommodation???

This is funny:
"I see in the news that the OSHA ETS has been struck down by the Supreme Court. What does that mean for Ford? The Company is still proceeding with its vaccination requirement. Although the OSHA ETS was aligned to the values of the Company on this subject, it was not the basis of the Company’s mandate"

Yes, as others have wrote, Ford is still going ahead because another Fed organization (EEOC) has said they can. How nice of them!

Ahhh...but there is just one little problem:
"Can U.S. employers legally require their employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19? Yes. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission allows employers to mandate vaccinations for employees, to protect the safety and well-being of the workforce. However, the Company will also continue to monitor and be compliant with all State and local requirements that either prohibit or otherwise restrict the Company’s mandate"

We will continue to make employees into pincushions except were we can not. I guess some of the non-vaxxers should have moved out of Michigan during the great lockdown/lockout/work from home experiment that has been going on the last two years. Several states have anti-vax mandates on the books.....maybe just update your address to a place that has anti-vax laws without really moving? Or, maybe you could bug Gretchen to do you a solid and implement one in Michigan, too, if she is recovered enough from her kidnapping ordeal.

Remember the part about being pin cushions?:
"Are booster shots required? While booster shots are not required by the Company at this time, Ford strongly encourages all US employees to follow CDC guidance regarding vaccination. Current CDC guidance advises that those who received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines should receive a booster dose 5 months after their second dose,
and those who received the Johnson and Johnson vaccine should receive a booster dose 2 months after their initial dose. COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Shots | CDC

Think that is enough for now; seriously, the update is out there, have a look for yourself. Guess I would not characterize the language as angry or pi---d off, more like they are incredulous you haven't filled out an accommodation request by now (** hint - people that have filled out an accommodation form, and I know several, have already said they got emails saying that even if they had not heard back from Ford by 1/18, they did not have to do anything else at this time - that email was sent in late December, 2021. Ford has still not got back to them yet **)

I really don't know what to make of this. All I know is that Ford is screaming for people that have certain skills sets (software engineers, BEV engineers, AV engineers and analysts, etc.) - and can't get enough of them, Even just 5 years ago, co-op kids that almost universally accepted jobs offers from Ford when they graduated, in those exact areas that Ford really needs, are turning down the Ford offers at an 75% to 90% rate...really bad numbers, think 1 in 10 accepting the offers. Ford isn't asking these kids there vax status

With such a shortage of certain skilled workers, I can't for the life imagine Ford would throw out any one that has these skills just because they don't have a shot. Put another way, if Ford does, then I don't think any of us would really want to work there anyways, as that kind of short sighted, short term thinking will be the last straw that destroys Ford.

In fact! at Ford has purged all of the vaccine mandate articles! The only mandatory vaccine policy you can find on at Ford is for Ford of Canada!

I think the OP is a lying liar that lies. And is bu-t hurt that it looks like Ford is backing down!
