Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Point system

Does Sam’s Club intentionally let people get away with absences and tardiness, I personally know of more than 7 associates with 9 points and beyond and still nothing happens, all of these associates are less than 1 year with company. This company is a complete embarrassment, if you are a hard worker, you take pride in your work and work as a team, do yourself a favor, get a job with another company.

Oh how true this is, the younger generation have no work ethics at all, I guess this is how the company wants it , no wonder the stores look like they are crumbling. No calls and no shows, but you still have your job, even the team leads can’t make it to work to open up the door so you can start work, should be a simple task for them , but it’s not

Points are only held against you depending on your likeability within the store and with certain managers. I know many who have a boat load of points or who are playing the system and get away with it. I guess brown nosing and going out on Friday nights with some mangers, and being favorites gets you the perks within the store. Sorry if there, if a policy it should be withheld for everyone. Some mangers forget where friendship ends, and work begins.

It’s up to that manager at the end of the day as they run the attendance reports. It’s also up to their direct TL to speak with their manager to help influence.

If I notice a lot of lates and call outs — I go to my manager and ask to run attendance — because I can start recruiting for their replacement.

The point system is only used when it's convenient to them. They also have a funny way of terminating the wrong people and they keep the bad apples.

why aren't questions answered here? I asked about the procedure for closing payroll and the practice of taking PTO for holidays when I requested through the computer system not to be paid. can someone please explain the process of closing out payroll? Who is responsible?

It happens everywhere, not just Sam's.

At my club the managers take points off of certain workers. I don't agree with that. But it happens none the less. It does seem like they are trying to do away with older associates. That's not fair either, we need to work and pay our bills too.

Can someone explain the process of "closing payroll" on the Saturday after the end of a pay period? Who is responsible to do this task? It is done automatically by the computer? I requested no PTO for the holidays, however they took it anyway. What is the point?

It only happens in clubs where management is incompetent and can’t function without these deadbeats.

In our club the same thing happens, if you are a favorite then you get a pass. How many had their PTO taken for the holidays even though you requested no pay for those dates? I know of 2 associates who said NO PAY however the company took their PTO anyhow. One person got ill afterwards and because the compoany took the PTO, this associate got points.

Absences and tardiness are a way of life for the younger generations, and this is now the core of Sam's workforce. Older folks with an actual work ethic are almost gone. That's all you need to know.
