Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Must be vaccinated to attend Impact

It looks like Cisco is still planning on having an in person sales meeting this August in Las Vegas with a requirement to show vaccination. This should not effect many in the sales ranks as on average 93% of Cisco is vaccinated and it would not appear sales would be any different.

I prefer the Apple strategy that is not dividing their workforce. If you're unvaccinated, test before you come into the office. If you're vaccinated, test once a week. Here are a bunch of tests and it's on the honor system.

No one wants to get or give covid. Treat your employees like the responsible adults they are.

Vaccines only have a 1% actual risk reduction to getting COVID. They are next to useless according to pfizer's own data.

At this point why does anyone care who has gotten the vaccine or not? It doesnt make a differnece and covid is just a cold for most people at this point.

We have reached herd immunity. Thanks nature/immune systems - you're the best!

"that's not how medicine works..."

Is that right? Please explain how it works. You think that the doctors prescribing medicine know all of the risks and ingredients that are involved with the prescriptions that they are prescribing? If that is the case, why would we ever have class action lawsuits for prescriptions that were once deemed safe by the doctors that prescribed them?

"No. I think most people think they are doing the right thing. But you know what the path to h3ll is paved with. Most in the medical field are simply believing what they are being told about COVID and the vaccine. Very similar to cults. Everyone thinks they are doing the right thing. That is until something grave happens."

"making health policy a political thing is just stupid"

I agree. But I didn't make it political. Politicians made this political.

"I have friends and relatives working in hospitals in the EU, do you think they are part of the conspiracy too?"

"If you don't want to be vaxxed then don't take it....but your actions do have consequences."

Say Cisco implemented a policy that says overweight people can't visit customers. Would your response be "If you don't want to lose weight then don't....but your actions do have consequences"?

I left Cisco many years ago and all the companies I've worked for after Cisco all had similar sales kick off events in Vegas. I'm going back this year and it's only for vaccinated people as well. Nothing new or unique there.

I can totally imagine some unvaxed dude getting covid at the event, ending up severely disabled and then suing Cisco for damages so better safe than sorry eh?

Who would like to bet now that they'll require the booster for anyone attending? Not for the potential benefit, but because they want to reduce the cost.

If you don't want to be vaxxed then don't take it....but your actions do have consequences. Get the vaccine and you can go to vegas, see customers, travel, go to the office, meet with team member in person. Remember everyone from Cisco you do meet with is vaccinated and guess what they are ok. 19 out of 20 Cisco employees are vaccinated....maybe even higher in sales.

GSM/GSX/Impact is a drunken debauchery event, the equivalent of "Spring Break" for College Students. How many people have gotten fired for their actions or even arrested attending this.

‘ Grow some ba--s and just say you don't want it.’

Amen to that. At this point, I think nobody gives a rat’s a-s about your beliefs. Take horse dewormer to your liking, don’t get vaxxed, drink bleach. Nobody gives a damn anymore.

So much for keeping my vaccination status secret. The net effect is if I am not in Vegas everyone will know I'm not vaccinated. "Your vaccination information is keep secret and not even your manager knows". BS this is a backdoor way of letting everyone know.

I believe managers see your status. You're either "compliant" or "restricted". Restricted means you can't go onsite, travel, or meet with customers without restrictions. In some cases, wearing a mask is enough. In others, they just don't let you perform whatever task.

I'm not sure why knowing what your vaccination status is is such a big deal. When I was in service, every service member was required to get their flu shots. If you didn't get your shot on the mandatory shot day, you were put on a list and they started sending that list higher and higher up the chain of command until you got your flu shot or you got a major disciplinary action. No one there was whining about "oh, people know whether or not I got jabbed".

Just be glad that Cisco finally dropped the mandate and hasn't made the mandate a term of employment. If you're so adamant about not getting the shot, your peers probably already know you don't want the shot so who gives a sh-t? Grow some ba--s and just say you don't want it.

We are talking about sales events aka drunk parties when other companies are leaving us in the dust. My resume is up to date, if we can’t beat them might as well join them.

Could not care less if you are vaxxed or unvaxxed at this point since it doesn't stop transmission. It really doesn't matter except to the individual. For some the vax may help and for others they are a ticking time bo-b. At least some of the vaxxed may get a good time as I guess there could be worse ways to go then partying it up in Vegas and die in your room with a heart attack. Way to make an Impact! Should be an exciting event!

Should be more worried about employees coming back with something other than covid, from Vegas unfortunately (too much drinking). Very stupid people go there. Not good either way though.

GSM/GSX/Impact is definitely something I do NOT miss about Cisco. Forced away from family for a week during the kids summer vacation? Vegas in August? Puhleeze. All the drinking and hi-fiving and cramming into thumping nightclubs with overweight white sales guys wearing blinking sales champion necklaces. enough already.

Skip impact, and send sales people to Cisco Live. Having sales people in front of our customers is a better use of the money.

The real question is will Gerri retire before 23 Impact. She came out of retirement once for this job, and certainly doesn't need the money.
