Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Layoff ~ Desktop Support

The shoe hit today. All those people who have been making sure that Fiserv survived the shift to remote work just got their notices today. Two meetings, about 80 people. mid April is their current end date.

Being replaced by a contract company, mainly based overseas.

Every single person who has helped a Fiserv employee with problem solving, tech support, helping you get logged in and connected, called in your expanding battery, made sure you had the right docks, the right software, tested your internet speeds, called you multiple times on your help desk ticket to make sure you could do your job and get to your meetings, even helped you determine that you needed a new laptop......

has been given notice. They dont even get time to train their replacements. Just gone one day, and the contract company comes in.

Great way to thank the backbone of the company that made the shift to remote easier for all of you, including Frank!

(BTW Fiserv paid to build that home office of Frank's...plus $40k a week in security and a car service....who needs that much security at their private home office????)

Well, the next shoe dropped. The people that were picked up by HCL from Fiserv Desktop last year are now being laid off. And what is worse is that HCL is doing a load of tickets, but quite a few of them are closed even though they are not completed. "See how much work we are doing??? Aren't we wonderful?". They are going to be moving to the new domain this year and they are going to do it with the current staff. I wish them well since they are not bringing in the help they need to do the migration, as they have done in the past. So those that are left are going to have a lot of headaches during this process. And with laptop imaging only being done from a central location, they are going to be overwhelmed. Best of luck.

FYI - Password lock outs have gone down. No one is willing to risk locking themselves out because then they have a 40 minute phone call to get themselves unlocked. Most of the time is just trying to get the operator to understand that you aren't a Bank of America employee.

I was one of the 380 that were laid off. The outsourcing company picked many of us up, if we were in an office. But if you weren't near one, then it was "Bye Bye", here's your package. And for those that are staying, they will be laid off after the less expensive people have been trained up. I wish them well, but the old saying "You get what you pay for" is so true for a reason. In a couple of years they will see that this has been a bad idea and try to bring it back in house. But they will have lost all of the loyal Fiserv IT to other companies that are willing to pay them what they are worth. Yes they did keep the directors, but only as liaisons to the outsourcing company. I'm sure they are having a wonderful time keeping things going.

Just to correct the something. It was 380 IT people (service desk, desktop support and server support) that have been laid off. Aren't getting the service you expect from the helpdesk or desktop support, tell your manager and send the complaints up the chain of command. They might actually learn that buying cheap, gets you cheap.

Comms is getting slaughtered right now too. Of the whole team I deal with, only 2 will be around by year end. Even folks who lived close enough to an office to not have to move to NJ and were not given a severance offer have walked. They won't be top heavy for long.

And their top heavy overpaid communications people won’t be sending out a communications announcement on all the people they are dumping out of the company to outsource to India. Truly pathetic! It will be a twisted email that this new company is taking over 4/15. Deal with it.

Frank is a worthless piece of dog tu-d. Sorry to hear this is happening, I always had good service when I needed the desktop support team. I left a couple months ago and I'm ashamed at what continues to happen to good people and hard workers. Better jobs are out there, circulate your resume and you will end up with more money and time not to mention be much happier. Best of Luck

Directors were not skipped in this - my husband who has been with the company for 39 years was let go and immediately put on a 2 week non-working vacation. This is how Frank treats loyal employees that truly gave a sh-t about their jobs, the Company, their work ethic and Customer service. This ship will sink deeply…

I heard that the managers at the directors level for the desktop support and helpdesk were not affected by the layoff. But they are "motivating the employees to stay and keep the lights on until mid April". The employees get their "enhanced package" and the directors keep their jobs.

Get your reference letters. Do not be afraid to ask, get every one of them possible. When I left a major insurance firm, got some from high level executives. And a lawyer. She was advised that only name and dates could be written. She said " I am a lawyer here, do you really want to take me on." Get them and keep then handy. They are gold.

Frank has no idea how to run a company he cuts a business to the bone and expects it to work, all it does is stress staff out and staff leave in droves.
Fiserv was a great company until we merged with Frank's Firstdata, Staff now call it Fiserv In Name Only, all this to save some money so he gets more pay back on his shares it will cost him more money in the end its a false economy.

This is a massive mistake they will lose a lot of experienced engineers and the company they are placing us with have a poor reputation for treating staff poorly and get contracts to make as much money from them as soon as possible, then drop the contract and the experienced staff from Fiserv they are cruley dumping will be dropped not long after starting with HCL.

The customer service experience the associates currently get is excellent as the engineers are always willing to go that extra mile, this will stop when they are moved to HCL and associates will lose that personnel service

This move will come back to bite Frank and Fiserv in the rear end

THANKS FRANK FOR SUPPORTING YOUR LOYAL STAFF

  1. get your resume out there - now. I guarantee that if you have experience and are competent, you'll have a job offer by mid-February at the latest, and most likely sooner.
  1. do not wait for April - do it now. Right now. Fiserv might offer a bribe to keep you around until then, but you will get _way_ more than that in the raise you'll receive by working for someone else. You owe them nothing.

Fiserv employees are screwed. I have been through two outsource situations, with Windows support always described as CHEAPER,FASTER,BETTER as if one word. Our replacements at a major insurance firm were kids one of whom delivered Pizza as a past job, knew zero. Offers for some staff to stay were cheap. Second situation in Alpharetta is a major medical device firm that outsourced to Wipro. HORRIBLE - service desk was a joke. Took 9 days for India to route a trouble ticket from one end of the office to me. I considered re-joining this outfit in 2021 but it was rancid. Wipro was a disaster. So Fiserv will pay dearly for this stupid decision. Good luck to those who remain and those in IT who are sent packing.

@1zke+1eYpUU0M, you will still get your 1:1 assistance in the bigger offices. The people at those locations will have the opportunity to apply to HCL. Those of us without an office are sc***ed.

Well I guess we’ll all get the new tech support number to call for assistance…no running down to the tech cafe for their great 1:1 assistance…maybe we can get the number to Frank’s son in law…maybe he could step in to help…at that salary which is disgusting…they should be ashamed at this decision!

The service desk was also impacted, also told mid April and HCL technologies would be taking over. So the team that's been busting there butts off covering for both ofs and ofd. Most of us have been working lots of overtime to ensure that coverage on the phones is availabale even on the weekends. So the local support team that helps fix your issues over the phone is not going to be there anymore. So many good employees, just thrown to the way side, my manager was crying when they announced it because they knew they were losing good people to a outsourcing.

Well get more information on regards to a severance package within the next week.

I sincerely hope those 80 people recover well from this. Fiserv decision making sure baffles me. This was core operations staff, how do they expect a vendor to handle this task with the nuance needed. This will fail.

I'm leaving at the end of the month, and there's no arthritis in my middle finger. Hi! AP business unit.

Big shoutout to all the US desktop/infrastructure support professionals who made my life, many lives, more fruitful and productive.

Don't even worry about training your replacements. Coast. Coast your sweet @ss into April, then move on to your next [higher] paying venture or maybe a much needed rest period. A time to be still and reflect on all the positive contributions you've made and can make elsewhere.

THANK YOU!
