Internal Job Req Reposted After Initial Job Req Closed

Hopefully someone with HR knowledge can provide some input on why an internal job posting would repost after it closes. I know people submitted on these so were they just not good candidates? Is there a minimum number of candidates that need to apply (more than 2)? Other reasons?

Usually reopened internally to allow more candidates to apply. Usually those candidates file some type of Hr complaint and we will reopen to play nice.

One reason, the selected candidate did not pass background or the dr-g test. You would be surprised how many candidates fail the dr-g test. Many states have legalized ma------a, but most employers test you for that.

Maybe your manager didn't sign off on it

Just because you applied for a job posting dosen't mean you have the qualifications or skills for the job. Or did poorly on the interview. An internal or external job can be posted more than once, each time for 8 days.

As a hiring manager I can tell you there are 10 different reasons a req gets reposted. Maybe they didn’t like any of the applicants that applied, some times only 1 person applies, maybe the selected candidate didn’t accept the offer, if it’s a driving position the selected candidate could have failed the DMV background check etc

That happened when I applied for my current position. In my case there were too many whites on the team. I was the best candidate, but they needed a few minority applicants to justify hiring another white.

Yes, because the person the hiring manager wants to offer the position to didn’t apply. Majority, if not all of the positions already have a candidate selected before the job is posted. It’s disgusting and the opposite of equal employment.
