Cisco Transformation Strategy

Randomly shuffling the deck every 1.5 years is not a strategy, it's gambling.

I was in Supply Chain Operations for many years. We "transformed" so many times that I lost count. At one point, the org even changed it's name to pretend it had something more to do with customers and sales other than building good stuff and shipping it on time. Millions of dollars paid to consultants who cranked out pretty powerpoints; dittling around with org design and re-solving problems.

A big reason for continuous transformation programs is the loss of organizational memory. When masses of people are fired old problems that were solved become problems again. And, since those who solved them are gone nobody remembers how. It's a consultant's dream.

It is thier strategy to keep thier head above water while the ship sinks.

If they keep restructuring they can hide the company losses for another few years and keep collecting fat paychecks while the company dies.

There isnt much left to care about here at Cisco so people are just protecting thier own paychecks and thier friends' paychecks for a while longer until it all comes crashing down.

Giving up and assuming the company's demise ... is a cowards way out in my opinion.

They could fix this, they need to start with the culture.

Drop the woke bs, drop the mandantory meetings/trainings, come up with some good business ideas and fix this mess. Its possible.

I like to make pretty powerpoint slides.

I am a strategic thinker.

Whatever I put on the slide becomes the vision.

Only certain people are educated and insightful enough to create these slides.

If the company cannot align to my strategy vision, it is an execution issue.

I am the enlightened one. If you cannot make my vision come to reality, it is you that has the issue.

What strategy?! Oh, the ones where the word "business" and "CTO" in every hire's official title would solve everything?

It's a distraction, not a strategy. Focus on anything but our legacy network equipment product offerings.

Did we miss out on security? yes
Did we miss out on the cloud? yes
Did we miss out on enterprise software? yes

Focus on reorgs and social justice initiatives. Please ignore the 15 years of continuous failed strategic initiatives. Authority without accountability is the Cisco way.
