Thread regarding Ascension Health layoffs

Layoff would be a blessing

If I somehow knew what I needed to do in order to become a layoff target and get paid to leave, I would do it. I will definitely leave, but I would prefer to get a package as well.

I don't know if the right way to get on the layoff list is to work only the bare minimum, because those who work bare minimum seem to be more protected and valued than anyone else here.

Find a job now. Don’t hold out for a severance package. If you wait until then, you’ll be pressed to find a job ASAP, instead of being able to take your time and find what’s right.

Not a single manager is being consulted on who stays or goes. That’s a fact!

Managers and Directors are not being consulted prior to layoffs. This is the chief reason it's clear this is only about chopping employees for money.

If you truly have to cut workers for financial reasons, you work with managers and directors to identify poor performers and unneeded jobs while maintaining jobs for skilled dedicated workers so your organization remains able to function as best it can.

There's no effort to do that because no one cares if AT functions or not. There is absolutely no concern to what it may do to downstream patient care.

I don’t think the lower level managers are getting consulted either. The managers I worked for all got laid off around the same time I did.

Being a lazy and sorry worker in general? That usually isn't what a company is looking to cut.
I think maybe they consider salary first, then tenure, then whatever looks most 'woke' from an outsider's point of view.

Working the bare minimum could get you fired without a package. I'm not sure you have any control over the situation. If your manager had a say you could indicate you'd volunteer to get laid off but it's not clear lower level management is being consulted for layoff selection.
