Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Life after leaving the Kremlin

I left XOM 6 months ago voluntarily. I resigned simply due to the utter disgust over the layoffs disguised as PIP, NI, NSI. The stress level for me was off the charts and when my body started showing signs of Illness, the decision was easy for me. I was diagnosed with a new onset type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure In the spring of 2021. 6 months after leaving I have reversed both my high blood pressure and diabetes and am off all medications. I no longer have chronic, unrelenting stress. The people at the top who decided the best way to address critical issues that all companies were facing by decimating employees and their families emotionally, financially, etc. are pure greedy evil bast*rds. If they wanted the level of attrition they decided was the answer to keeping all of the executives salaries and bonus structure untouched, a simply solution would have been a voluntary reduction in force. Many, many, many employees would have happily volunteered to sign up for a layoff. The leadership of this once iconic company is running this company into the ground. Ethical and moral leaders at other companies have taken pay cuts and given up bonuses as a way to demonstrate they are part of the solution. I hope this corrupt leadership will be forced out and a complete stand down implemented ASAP….. otherwise , this ship is heading for a crash that will not be reversible. I pray a competent and moral competitor takes over this evil empire and rights the ship. The amount of waste within the company is astounding but worst yet, the so called leaders of the very departments who have the highest levels of costs waste are aware of it yet remain silent and take no action. Get out ASAP and never looks back.

@2hum+1ea1ddUU I'm very sorry to hear that and wish you a healthy recovery.

I worked with Imperial oil in Canada and after months of being mobbed and gaslighted by my team lead and supervisor, I contemplated su----e but thankfully was laid off in late 2020 as part of the country wide staff reduction. Toxic leadership in the upstream organization favoured talkers over doers. Today, I'm blessed to be working in an organization where the culture is 1000x better than IOL/EM and values employees. I never knew how beautiful and positive workplace could be until I left IOL. For those feeling trapped and helpless, please remember that there is life beyond EM and it's highly likely that it is much much better. Stay strong.

14 days into my surprise ambush PIP, Which was the very first negative feedback in a decade of service, I had a heart attack. Fortunately I fell out on a Friday night so I was able to get a stent placed, get released from ICU, and be back in the office on Monday. Missing a day is unacceptable when you are fighting to save your livelihood and keep your kids fed. Cardiologist confirmed that it was a reaction to extreme stress. Health, peace, and hope wither in an environment of constant fear.

The Soviet Union had nothing on EM.

It is not the Kremlin. Putin is not the CEO.

I just wanted to set the record straight.

I left and am now with new company. The people actually talk to each other and care for one another. They work hard but play hard and it’s very inclusive!

Permian is another great example of wasteful spending, wasteful infrastructure and way too many layers of management, that are also unconventional incompetent.

My experience is similar. I resigned recently due to the utter disgust being shown specifically to new hires (folks I convinced to hire on at XOM) being shown the door under the guise of these PIPs. Which in fact had ZERO to do with their performance but was just (mostly) a numbers game. Anyway I've never felt better, my back hasn't hurt since leaving and I absolutely detest what this company has become.

This says it all. Years from now EM’s fall will be a textbook example of how a huge, thriving company can be blown up by a rotten system of management.
