Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Application status

I have interviewed with BOA for two different positions way over a month ago. Haven't heard back. I keep checking the status of my applications, and they only read, "in progress ".
Why doesn't h/ r update the candidates on their status? Contact them, and they don't respond. They leave you in the dark.
I assume since it's been a while, they're not interested and pursued other candidates, but at least let me know.

Short answer: Because they don't have to.

Just take it as yet another example of how they treat people, and focus your energies elsewhere.

fwiw, it's no better for people already with the bank, so it's not you.

@1zsl+1ebSAlI6 - same thing happened to me...ghosted and when I finally called them out, all of the sudden the system worked and sent me a "Candidate no longer under consideration" canned response.

You didn’t get it, just making time so it looks like you still have a shot

i work for the bank and even the HR Talent Acquisition team ghosted me on an application. I interviewed and never heard back for over two months! I sent several emails to the hiring manager and copied the hr rep, and heard nothing. i was literally Ghosted! I finally sent another email and called them out on "ghosting" me at work and that's when they sent me a reply quickly. They said there was a glitch in the system that I should've gotten an automatic reply when the position was removed/closed.

Talent acquisition is a dumpster fire. Each recruiter probably has over 20-30 requisitions they're juggling at any given time. Best advice is to keep applying to other places and move on. If they reach back out to you, you may or may not move forward so don't put all your hopes and dreams into any one application at any company.

I’m just surprised someone wants to work for BOA

At a time when retention and recruitment efforts are under pressure and reqs aren’t being filled successfully, it’s a questionable tactic to make candidates wait in silence for three months.

Sorry, but that’s simply not good enough. Anyone who believes otherwise has some self esteem issues.

First things first… stop whining. You don’t even understand the interview dance, it could take three months just to get to them asking you a question regarding your candidacy. Often times the people doing the interviews have very busy schedules and things fall through the cracks. Always have other interviews lined up no matter where you’re applying. Have a back up plan for your back up plan.

What I like to do after interview is tell them they have until Friday at 5pm to make an offer. I tell them that I will be reviewing all my offers over the weekend and will let them know what I decide on Monday morning.

They only contact you if you are moving on to next rounds of interviews. If your don t hear from them after you send your initial thank you email after first interview, it’s because they’ve gone in another direction.

However, if their first choice candidate refuses offer, they may circle back to you and act like you’re still their first choice, even if it’s months after your first interview. It’s called desperation.
