Did anyone actually know of or celebrate Juneteenth just 5 years ago? Anyone? At all?

you still get 12 days off a year just like always, and for US staff, 4 personal days in 2022, now called floating holidays. Just schedule your personal days off for the days you think you lost and quit complaining about nothing.

People complain about Columbus day but they surely took time to enjoy it when they had off. For those that call it racist, then work that day, and don't take off the extra personal day.

Many think Veteran's day should be a day off, and it probably should to those that served, but just schedule off that day too.

Others complain about Juneteenth. Make sure you work that day then and don't comp it out later for some other day you prefer.

If you lost Good Friday, that is unfortunate. Take it off, and make sure you go to church too.

People under the FED calendar complained about those under the NYSE calendar, and visa versa, not to mention support and staffing issues if your business supported both. The additional of Juneteeth and controversy over Columbus day (later called Indigenous Peoples Day on the 2021 calendar) forced their hands.

You haven't lost any days. They are just sorted differently.

Quit whining.

Cohort can be easily found in the dictionary. You could figure out why you made 2 grammatical errors and one logical error in one short, simple sentence.

5 some bnym employees are so sensitive and eager to be woke they cry when presented with facts about race and then scream racism.

@3zga, it's racist to only think of blacks when you think of slaves. BTW, slavery still exists in many countries. Perhaps instead of going through the motions adding woke holidays, BNY should cut ties with countries that condone slavery. You'll never guess what country has the most slaves currently. I'll give you a hint, they're just doing the needful...

2 some bnym employees are historically challenged
3 some bnym employees are just plain incompetent
4 some bnym employees belong to more than one of the above

It’s racist of you to suggest Juneteenth is a “black only” holiday. Would you prefer blacks in this country were still enslaved?

The genocide I was referring to was Columbus, but if you want to bring Christianity into it lets discuss the OG genocidal maniac -Yahweh of the OT. Then we can talk about the Christian inquisition, witch hunts, and pogroms, and the 20th century wars between the various Christian nations of Europe and North America.

OK, I challenge you to name this “superstitious old guard Catholic cohort”.

Or do you simply not understand this word?

Untrue. We lost Good Friday when the Federal Reserve calendar removed it and replaced with Martin Luther King day roughly 30 years ago.

These extreme activists that have taken over corporate America don't want equal rights, they want extra rights and special treatment.

@2loo, it's racist to force everyone to celebrate black-only holidays. Especially phony ones like juneteenth and kwanza.

Really? I suggest supporting our veterans and you resort to calling me a white supremacist and xenophobe. Celebrating Christ is now genocide??Speaks volumes about you.

I see the RWNJs, white supremacists and xenophobes are out in force. A volunteer military means it’s a career choice, just like banking or technology. Not automatically deserving of our blind undying adoration. And celebrating religious and cultural conquest and genocide is just so…18th century.

Sick out!! Everyone, please call off on Veterans day in 2022. Let's show our support for our Veterans by pushing back against this evil corporation's lack of recognition for our military veterans.

Personal days are now called floating holidays so if you would like to observe Veteran’s Day I guess you are using your personal time.

https://berkshiremm.com/good-friday-and-the-stock-market/

Another fable that many believe was that the market suffered through a Black Friday market crash in 1869. As a result, the Board of Governors of the Exchange swore never to open again on Good Friday. That seems a little hard to believe, since records indicate the exchange was closing on Good Friday as far back as 1864.

There is some reason to believe that religion did play a role in the holiday. New York, a century ago, was the home of Irish immigrants. As such there was a preponderance of Irish Catholic officials in just about every walk of life in the city, including the NYSE. It is plausible that those officials could have lobbied for the closing of markets during this important Catholic holiday. But no one can prove it.

@1cbp+1ecnlhOC - the point is certain days like Columbus Day and Veterans Day have always been acknowledged until everyone become sensitive. And they aren’t going to let everyone use a floating holiday at the same time for them . It’s disrespectful to our vets to take that away seeing we have people who work here and many of us have friends and family in the military

That's why you get "floating Holidays" use them for the holidays you wish to celebrate.

To the individual who thinks the NYSE is closed on Good Friday for religious reasons - you are history challenged. Don’t make assumptions.

First - they took away Mardi Gras.
Then - they took away the day after Mardi Gras. Which is worse.
And now this.

Before you know it, this company will start playing around with fake money loans to insiders and bribery of politicians and under-the-table dealings with bad people.
When will it end?

The federal reserve schedule still includes Columbus Day and Veterans Day and never included Good Friday.
https://www.federalreserve.gov/aboutthefed/k8.htm

The Stock market schedule is the same as it was last year with the addition of coonteenth. NYD was never observed when it fell on a Saturday

You're forgetting the role of a corporation. It's to maximize profits! If they can get you to work 24x7 with no holidays and zero paid, they would.

I have never worked at a company that got those days off. Federal and school workers do but the rest of us never did. I have worked for some pretty large corporations too.

“Good” Friday is a religious holiday imposed upon Wall Street by the superstitious old guard Catholic cohort. If you feel so strongly about Columbus and Veterans, you can use one of your floating holidays to observe.
