5G is kind of like that old home made periscope made out of cardboard and mirrors. If you don't have line of sight, just add a mirror, or as the case with 5G add another antenna. Obviously it's more complicated than just adding antennas all over the landscape which is why C-Band is critical component to VZ's Fixed Wireless Access strategy. C-Band is a happy medium solution to the speed vs. coverage challenges. I guess we didn't learn any lessons when Hurricane Sandy rolled through Long Island in 2012 and we replaced our destroyed land line infrastructure with a product called (I think) HomeLink. And now we are playing catchup to T-Mobile to build out a nationwide network. C-Band is not the be all end all, just another piece of the 5G puzzle. The bottom line is more capital and RIFs will be needed to build out the network or acquire fiber. Vz's debt is holding us back, so acquiring C-Band spectrum at a premium cost doesn't help.
