Stupid answer. If you are 26 at 28 and 30 at 40, you have much more to loose than the RSUs! A $400k salary for example.
The RSUs are a nice little gift - $19000 is close to the 401k company match at CL 28 salary but not anything “wow”!

At CL26, the RSU award is very small, but over the next 7 to 10 years and with promotions and future RSU grants, the unvested portion of RSU can build up to over 3000 shares at age 35 and over 5000 shares at age 40. A current CL 26 age 28 would be a CL 28/29 by age 35 and CL 30 at age 40. He would have to walk away from over 300k of unvested shares. Plus he is making nearly 300k per year in salary. The intent of RSU awards is over time it accumulates to fairly large sums and tends to incent keeping high performers. Similarly, XOM is not trying to retain people in bottom half. You can be replaced by experienced hires and fresh from college.

This site has blown decades of EM secrecy.
Of course, if you’ve been around for a while you would have heard through the grapevine about high potential people and RSUs, but it was a total company secret. If you were not part of the club, you could go decades without ever hearing anything official about these topics.
Now we get to know even details about this system, and we discover it’s not only rotten (we always knew that) but also how pathetic it is in terms of $$$. Honestly, I’m a bit disappointed to see for how little people sell their souls at EM.

This is hilarious. About 10 years ago someone told me about this elusive RSU, but made it sound like the best thing since sliced bread. He didnt tell me how much he was getting, so I always assumed it's a $50+k bonus. I'm from the AP so even fewer people made it to CL26+ on a top quintile. The way they talk about it, it like some secret society

HA HA HA! Thanks to the info shared here I'm having a good laugh. Like, really? People are CL 26, 27, 28+, O performance, and they are so desperate for $10k worth of shares to be vested... in 3 years? Oh wow. This cheapness boggles my mind

Goodness... the $ amount worth of RSU is so pathetic. Like, really? Someone is CL 26, O performance and is so desperate for $10k worth of shares and they'd rather wait 3 years in this place? A job elsewhere with 5% increment would easily pay for that over 3 years

I can guess why management would want to keep this a secret. They are evaluating employees harshly and giving out paltry RSUs. Can you imagine management being evaluated by the same standards and are awarded RSUs accordingly? Most would be NI or NSI. This company and probably most companies are as transparent as mud.

I think if, and that is a big if, one can somehow stay in the O ranking every year for like a decade or more that would be something worthwhile. You are correct, the amount of RSUs awarded really isn't much of an incentive for people that want to leave. Most companies will compensate you for this small amount of RSUs you are giving up, just have to ask.

300 RSU's is $18,900 based on todays price annnd half of that is 7 years out? LOL that is considered incentive to keep people?

Is it strange as a company that we get such information from an external web (contributed by our own folks) instead having this information transparent and well communicated within the organisation?

I just this a completely weird culture with this company.

CL 26 / 27 is O only. 28+ it's O and E.

The year you get promotion to 26 will not get you rsu. It's the next year. Remember you get rsu for the past year's performance. You were 25 in the past year..

This information was from a thread last year so not sure if it’ll apply this year.
CL26 RGP 80=160 RSU
CL27 RGP 80=200 RSU
CL28 RGP 80=300 RSU
CL28 RGP 60=200 RSU
I can confirm that this was correct and I was notified of the RSU in mid/late December 2020. Half of the RSU become vested in 3 years and the other half in 7 years. You receive the quarterly dividend while the RSUs vest. Personally I’m leaving early next year so they will be forfeited, but hey I’ll get $176 tomorrow (before taxes) 😁

Outstanding for most, but if you're on the MC it doesn't matter.
