Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Being vaccinated is supposed to protect you against the worst symptoms of COVID-19. It doesn't stop you catching it, it doesn't stop you passing it on and it doesn't eliminate the possibility of it mutating in you to form another variant. Therefore it doesn't make sense for those who are vaccinated (like me) to get all riled up about those who don't want to be forced to take the vaccine.

Yes - "follow the science", but don't give up on your critical thinking skills. Watch the politicians, watch Fauci, watch the TV pundits, Hollywood and our so-called leaders. They all disregard the very same rules that they want to force on everyone else. Why do they want everyone to be vaccinated to stay in work, but won't mandate the vaccine for Congress ? Biden lined up a very cozy deal with Pfizer before he was elected and the FDA Commissioner joined the Board of Pfizer right after their vaccine became fully approved. Do you really not think there's something fishy going on ?

This company needs to quit hiring people just because they have a college degree. The people that keep this company going are the blue collar guys that barely made it out of high school but don’t mind working hard. Almost every person I work with that has a college degree has zero common sense and acts like it will ki-l them to work hard.

How many of you people who have taken the vaccine have handed over your medical records to the company? I don’t feel like my medical history is any of their business unless it’s something that affects the company, and no getting Covid doesn’t affect my ability to do my job. It was basically like the normal flu but lasted a few days longer.

Has anyone actually got that letter or OP is just making that up?

The Covid-19 vaccines are safe and effective. Anyone eligible should get the jab.

Since they're going to mandate vaccines, I wonder if exxon is going to actually support their workforce in actually getting them.

They essentially abandoned expat employees and provided no assistance with monetary assistance, travel visas facilitation, or host country entrance/exit to return home to get a western vacine. They were more than happy to leave you sitting in the third world under lockdown for almost 2 years waiting for these poor countries to get vaccines. And when these countries finally received some vaccines it was a China/Russia option. TMO just said, "TS, get what they've got".
