New Program - "Site Leaders"

Apparently the (unlucky) 13 largest sites now have an assigned "site leader". New program they say. Considering that everyone in the company already has a leader, I'm not sure what the purpose of this program is. High ranking hall monitors? What are the metrics for the role?

I'm guessing that these people are "needed" in order to keep employees in line that don't have any leaders, peers, or directs on site but have been forced to "return" to office even though they didn't work in one before. Or maybe they'll be the Papers Please police? Should that become necessary?

A floor Marshall, is in case of an emergency they help clear the floor when there is a need to vacate. They don't care what you do as long as you bounce when that emergency alarm goes off and the lights on the floor flash at you.

Workday has a lot of requirements for time reporting. But they are already able to see how long you're gone despite what your status says.

Me: gets up from the shared desk in my newly minted neighborhood location for a bathroom break at the nearest neighborhood bathroom, then on to the watercooler to chat... you know, once an hour or whatever

Site Leader: "Excuse me, sir. Is there a reason you're not at your desk?"

Me: "I need to use the restroom and then I was going to chat at the watercooler"

Site Leader: "Okayyyy, well, Just a friendly reminder to make sure your restroom visit does not exceed 5 minutes. Also, your watercooler chat should not exceed more than 5 minutes. Please refrain from discussing politics, religion, sports, personal topics, the weather and anything bad about Wells Fargo. Also do remember to log ALL of this in STAMP so that your hours are properly accounted for. If you exceed the allotted times as mandated, you will be reprimanded. The first offense is a warning. The second offense is required training on workplace etiquette and a course on "How to best use your time in the office." The third offense you will be written up and potentially terminated"

Me: "Sorry, I missed everything you said except not being able to talk about the weather because I really have to use the restroom? But thanks and I'll keep everything you said in mind. By the way, it's a beautiful day outside - not too sunny and not too cloudy!"

There were site leaders in the past. The role was eliminated when CRE took more site control, which they did not do well. We spent $1MM once separating some processing areas from the rest of a sites team members only to learn a month after we were done that the other group was moving out. Maybe this will help with those fiascos.

Site leaders, and then floor marshals. Just watch. They are responsible for their sites, and too many issues can have a kickback on them so they will make sure to enforce rules.
