The person saying quit whining should work in HR and develop training on ethical operations. He would fit in well. Sure, the benefits weren't guaranteed - they aren't under contract. But for decades these health care benefits were part of compensation and were reliably provided. Year after year, employees could go into "my total compensation" or whatever it was called that year, and retirement health care benefits were there. Decades of precedent gave employees confidence in these benefits, and was concidered in taking a job with Ford in the first place, and staying long term. This move, which amounts to a significant cut in retiree benefits, while legal, is not ethical.

Taking the pension instead of the monthly stipend would have a way better choice. I cashed out in 2020 and no way was I going to let inflation eat up that lump sum.

This is the 21st century. Pension stipends are a poor choice.

How much would it really cost Ford continuing the health care “promise” in comparison to the EV investment over the next three years? ($30 Billion... that's with a "B" Bob). Just adjusting the $500/mo stipend for inflation from 2006 cap would increase it to approx $687/mo or an additional ~2250/year.
Even that small gesture would help out the retirees, most of which are now living on a fixed income.
I guess all the Ford Executives have no soul! Thanks Billy!

To the person who said stop crying and we are being phony you obviously don’t have any idea. Before we retired we budgeted/planned for receiving Ford healthcare and dental that was promised us by the company and also was provideds as a precedent for decades. I am grateful that Ford is still contributing but it is far from what we were told we would get. Ford is not hurting financially so this is just a slap in the face and betrayal. We should of been informed before retiring so we could of planned accordingly. We are on fixed incomes and the increase in cost is difficult enough but then the coverage is worse too. And Ford did this during a Pandemic for us 55 to 65 year olds that contributed 30+ years at Ford.

Ford is giving you 6,000 a year to spend on health insurance plus another 6,000 for your spouse. Stop crying about losing your insurance. The only thing you lost is the ability to buy into the Company's plan. You are still getting 12 grand to spend on whatever kind of insurance you want. Whining like you are suddenly uninsured is a bit phony.

As a current employee that is not pension eligible, it is very sad to me to see a company treat retirees in such a manner. This does not bode well for how Ford views its employees. And that the almighty $ outweighs the well-being of those that gave years of their lives in service to the company.

Many of my fellow salaried employees, that are pension eligible, should really take a long hard look at this. Are those golden handcuffs really worth it? When there are worlds of opportunity out there for people with your skills?

What they did, they did knowing what they were going to do before they offered packages to begin with. I learned long ago when I saw what happened to Ford employees that went to Visteon you need to look out for number one.

The company is and will pay for this move with future sales. I refuse to give anyone that asks me A, X, whatever plan for new car purchases. Since I retired, they have continually just stuck it to me with medical costs. Well, there are alternatives to their vehicles and I will never purchase/drive one again.

I am retired, happily from the politics , the DEI cults, and the often captain-less ship but I probably speak for many that there has been a steady stream of 4 take-aways from retiree benefits this year. Got letters/email in October, November, and December. Ford has trimmed about $20k over what they provided over prior. So I understand the Company can do whatever they want, and I can whatever I want as well as that is a hefty down payment on a new Ford or payments, or non-Ford vehicle purchased. Am I that petty? It's not a yes or no answer but commitment is a 2 way street. But they are not truthful by saying how much retirees are valued. Tolerated maybe but not valued. It is true legally the company promises may not be binding and only words. It is true the prepared always have back up plans. Many just believed Ford would honor what they promised in the package agreements we signed, although I a sure there are wiggle words in fine print I did not see. Current and future retirees I wish you well.

I would rather have the jelly than dealing with these people. It is entirely useless in waiting hours for a representative and if you ask them any question other than are you breathing, you get referred to a specialist plus another hours or days hold. I gave up after 3 weeks. Buying direct. You only need them to enroll in reimbursements.
