Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

I'm tired of always being tired

I'm tired of being overworked all the time. I envy people who say they are bored at work, I wish that was me. Instead, I'm always trying to figure out how to fit everything into a week and there's never enough time. I can't take any time off because I know the work will multiply and then I'm screwed. And before anybody tells me to leave, I've been trying to. But when you have no time to devote yourself to job search properly, it's not that easy.

@1jsn+1egvEZ53 and then get told you're not taking the opportunities presented to you and then be down ranked. That's the system now 😁

@OP Simple solution: lay down markers and don’t cross them.

When in doubt, review your job description, job title, and the the conditions of employment in your offer letter. If the tasks you’re being given aren’t covered there, then you’re not responsible for performing them. You’re welcome.

I must be one of those bored with nothing to do.

Whether you decide to stay or leave, you need to prioritize yourself first. Any company is going to take as much as you are willing to give. Put some boundaries up. You can’t keep this up without it impacting your health.

If you’re life depended on it, you would find the time. And your life does depend on it. The problem here is that we are all in denial that our life here at Exxon is over. Maybe if I just work really really hard….NO! Stop that thinking. Choose life.

man i feel you! it's so difficult. sending CVs and preparing for interviews feel like the 5th project that I have zero capacity to take on. already working 10-14 hours a day, cos work keeps piling due to massive attrition. EMIT L1 said we need to do less, but it has never filtered down the L3, L4 and L5. If the lowest in the foodchain do less, then what do the L4 and L3 have to show for their PDS? NOTHING! plus, guess who are handovers to new or MSP folks, coordinating new processes that came up of sourcing, solving teething issues of system changes? (ANYONE REALIZED THEY CHANGED THE TICKETING SYSTEM AND NOW HALF THE PEOPLE CAN'T FIND WHERE TO RAISE TICKETS?! AND HOW-TO DOCUMENTS FLOATING IN INTRANET RELATED TO TICKET LINKS ARE OBSOLETE? US EMIT FOLKS ARE IMPACTED TOO!!) So the pressure is still coming down on us, while the middle sing the same tune of the L1, always spinning positive tales about resilience, we care, it's been a difficult year but things are looking up and PLEASE TAKE CARE... TAKE CARE MY ARRRSE!

If you have confidence you are employable outside if EM then take care of yourself first, take 2vhrs per day for job search. Prioritize your work accordingly. You aren't the only one who had done that
