@hcn+1ehbdUxg - not all employees in other countries are treated the same way like in the US...in some countries, it is not so easy for an employer to dismiss their employees, unless the employees did break the rules or involved in unethical behavior...
Like in some countries in Europe, some employees who did take the voluntary separation scheme, depending on their year of services, they did get up to 24 months of compensation...
So EM in US only follows what is allowed in terms of the labour law, and they are only following the book...whether it is accepted (morally and ethically), that is a question you should ask yourself...

what severance did xom pay for their full time employees? Is the three month PIL for employees who were dismissed after decades with the company now considered as a “perk”?

Careful there with koolaid, you will choke yourselves

@uaj+1ehbdUxg - thanks for the explanation. I think by now all of us should already understand that outsourcing is the future at EM. In that regards, it is easier for EM to terminate the services contract, when EM don't need it anymore.
Otherwise, EM will still be responsible to take care of the employees if they didn't need their services anymore, and have to pay compensation if EM want to terminate their services. Going forward, will advise EM colleagues to treat their employment with EM as transactional. They pay you for your services - and not thinking about long term career with the company.

MSP is managed service provider, just another way to say contractor. It’s who really does most of the work at BTC.

What is MSP ? Please don't assume that all people here understand the abbreviations used in your Business Unit (BU).
From your statement, it seems like you are doing the job below your pay grade, and get paid higher salary for it.
You have to decide - salary is more important, or job satisfaction ?
