Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Union Selling Out Members On Vax Deadlines

Why is CWA allowing Verizon to require Union employees Vax status?

And if they don't comply ...they are off the payroll....fired.

There is no Federal Mandate... no Government deadlines...nothing in the contract about vaccinations or members required to turn over personal medical information

Why is the Union silent on this?

This would be a Verizon-only mandate...and the Union is on board with these company demands.

This Union is going to need me for their future ...not mine....next strike I'll cut my deal with the company for the year or two I have left....two can play at this game.

The Union has shown me today....it's every man for himself....got it.

What is it you don’t understand?

The Company is a business. Their main concern is how much money you can make for the Company.

The Union is also a business. Their main concern is how much money they can take from your pocket every week.

You and I work for our pay and benefits. If I feel I am being treated unfairly or that I’m worth more money then I’m free to get another job somewhere else.

Is this so hard to understand?

I'm an old manager and I am still stunned that the craft people have not booted out the CWA and IBEW leadership and put in people who really represent them. Not a bunch of leftwing lawyers who can't tell a Philip's head from a standard head.

In one of the predecessor companies managers used to rely on the union to ensure that the good benefits stayed that way. In fact more than a few senior execs used to joke how they would use the threat of a strike to the board to keep everyone's' bennies intact anytime there was a threat to curtail them to save money. Now there seems to be too much of a divide between craft and management and too much of a difference in benefits packages. That's how no one get's anything except for the top five.

Who’s to say Hans is at Verizon in 2 years….the Union should hope so because a lot of people are seeing the unions act on this as clear as day. a lot people really don’t need to be on any picket lines for them. We’re all done here and there will be no need to lose money fighting for the unions future after this disgrace.

To those of you who say you're not going to picket, NEWSFLASH - There isn't going to be a strike! Hans loves the union, unlike the dipisht before him.

Not only no picket duty, but no striking. I'll be at work at 8AM the first Monday in August 2023, no matter what. Done with the union. Done.

@vpq+1eiGZbMJ Completely agree. The Union is refusing to do their job and protect my legal rights….I guess that is their choice today and obviously for their own benefit.

My choice later will be for my benefit. I will not be on any picket line ever again. I now have a very credible reason not to be.

At this point, crossing the picket line and just continue working is exactly something that I would consider now, and absolutely under no circumstances would have ever considered before. We have a pro vac government, company, and union. How do do you think that'll work out for ya??

None of this makes any sense even when they announced they had negotiated to an “ impasse “ the company still just moved forward with their original plans…. Why would the company negotiate at all if they still get what they want regardless? and why is the union allowing it ?

Courts around the country have denied the mandate calling it illegal yet Verizon is pushing through with absolutely zero opposition from the union. Wouldn’t the union members at least want their union to protect their legal rights? Let alone their contractual rights?

For the union to allow its membership to upload their personal medical information to the company with no federal or state mandates screams of collusion and back room deals.

Again none of what is happening makes any sense other than the union has in fact sold out their members.
