Most of all I'd like Cenovus to offer voluntary packages. I guess it won’t happen because most people would leave, but I wonder if there’s even the slightest chance that they could offer it? I would be forever grateful to this company for doing so.

Funny to see Pembina mentioned here. That company is rotten to the core. Google their Layoff page to see how cruel they are to staff. Never thought I'd ever say this, but Cenovus would treat us infinitely better compared to that abomination. And I greatly dislike this place.
Agreed with the post above, voluntary packages gives them an easy way out.
That would set a precedent and the corporation needs to keep the bees in line.
My husband works HR at Pembina Pipeline Corporation and they routinely have long-term people in tears just wanting a way out due to the toxicity and sweatshop culture, however it is cheaper for the company to put their thumb down on these people and wait things out until they walk for nothing.. saving the company peanuts. Cenovus is the same way. No way voluntary layoffs ever happen.
