Does anyone have any insight as to why management would pick a date perfectly timed to put us, factoring in incubation time, in the crosshairs of a guaranteed post-holiday COVID-19 surge? If you were willfully, maliciously planning to expose as much of your staff as possible, January 10 would be just about the perfect date to start pulling them together. Given the company’s caution up until this point, it is just so hard to believe they’re doing this. Is it possible this is just plain ineptitude? It just staggers the imagination.

The 1/10 came out right before Brandon's 1/4 vax mandate that has been flushed down the toilet
Sorry, Charlie. Only good tasting tuna get to be Starfish.
Or something like that....
I can’t believe I work with so many nut jobs. Makes me glad I don’t talk to most of them.
You won't get it a second time, so your sick little super spreader fantasy won't be coming to pass. The clown world thing is that you're outraged that people that haven't been vaccinated might spread the virus...so outraged that you want to spread it yourself. I'm sure you don't see any logical issues there at all.
Never forget my friends, omicron was delivered to the US by a fully vaccinated traveler that returned from South Africa (to CA I believe). With the travel restrictions being what they are, that's precisely how the variant traveled to most places. Those dang "rare coincidences" strike again.
No, it's just not. Sitting in a germ-filled office for 9 hours a day is just a disaster waiting to happen. I've been double vaxxed and still had a breakthrough case of COVID. Omicron is even better at causing the breakthrough infections, even if the cases are less severe. Forcing us all back just creates an unnecessary, non-stop super-spreader event right after the holidays. If nothing else, we need to remain at home as responsible citizens in our communities and not contribute to the problem and the ongoing strain on our health care systems.
Clearly it’s a last ditch effort to get people to leave to avoid bonus payout in February.
It seems like the same person for months has been creating posts about why we shouldn't return to the office.
Hey, I’m young and healthy, had COVID early on, vaxxed and boosted since. Happy at the thought of maybe getting a mild case and spreading it to some unvaxxed, even at some risk to me. Looking forward to seeing everyone in January!!!! Let’s get this show on the road..

No we have not all been going out. Many of us have ceased those activities and may never return to them. I do not go to restaurants, churches, concerts, theaters, stores, schools, and other places and I do not plan to for a long time. I focus my time and money into doing other things in my spare time instead and have never been more satisfied.
Everything is pickup or delivery-and I mean everything. Even my latest car purchase was delivered right to my home. Restaurants are delivered or picked up. Kids do online learning and are thriving. All the rest of it could end forever and I wouldn't miss it for a second.
I've already set my mind to RTO and I am ok with it. It's all about being careful going to and in the office and having booster shots. We all have been going out and about, and it's actually safer to be in the office than in a packed mall or concert event.
I’m confident that common sense will prevail and they will not force a 1/10 RTO. It wouldn’t surprise me if they’ve already made the decision but are waiting to announce it so as to give the appearance they didn’t make it too casually. Don’t panic quite yet.
As a manager I think it’s my job to listen to and empathize with my team’s concerns, and make sure I’m escalating them. Sad to think other managers just dismiss people’s worries as “childish.”
Such a bunch of whiners, if you don't want to RTO, then don't. There are lots of WFH opportunities out there. Please stop the whining! We have already delayed the RTO multiple times and if we delay it again, the next time around, same whining. Stop it!
@ner, I do believe that. However, I believe the sociopaths exists at all levels throughout the bank. Plus, there are a lot of grade school personalities... Every time SVB says goodbye on his calls, I am reminded of the child we are all working for.

Get a clue. This is what maybe your team is feeling or thinking, but being a WF manager maybe you could care unless.

Typical Wells Fargo management response, patronizing to those who attempt to stand up for themselves. I’m guessing you think you are above us all with your maturity? Part of becoming a mature adult is being emotionally developed enough to try to understand why people are behaving in a certain way. Employees are communicating here, asking reasonable questions and looking for support and information they are not getting from WFC leadership.
Lives are at stake. Maybe that deserves a bit of attention and compassion.
As a current employee, I pray that you are not really a manager. Seriously condescending
and immature.
In order to care, first I’d have to believe that omicron is dangerous to wide swaths of the population. I don’t.
I’ll keep playing along though just to give corporate a hard time.
Pre-Wachovia, everyone being in the office made more sense. Nowadays, teams are scattered all across the US and even India and the Philippines. Many of us will be Skyping our teammates, just as we do when we're remote.
Sorry Charlie
As a current manager, I pray that none of the posts on this site are from any members of my team. Seriously childish.
OP - I agree with you 100%. Did anyone notice that other large corporations have/had that exact same return date of Jan 10, 2022? It’s because they all are paying for advice from the same outside consulting firm.
A week ago, I would have put good money on the fact that WFC would stick firmly with that date. Now I’m betting that they will ultimately end up pushing it back, since we are starting to see other large companies such as Apple and Google, do so. I’m betting those discussions are already taking place, but WFC will not notify employees until we get closer to Jan 10, because that’s how they like to roll.

That is a good idea. I know others who are doing the same.
Our manager has asked which 3 days we will come in (cannot be both a Monday and a Friday 🙄). So I have friends who are planning to use their leftover PTO days from 2021 for that first week or two to see how it play out.
I can “kind of” empathize with companies who want to get employees back in the office. It’s difficult to please everyone. But WFC has just gone about it so poorly. Who is making the decisions? Who is in charge of keeping us all as safe as possible when we do RTO? Who is in charge of the (thus far) incomplete communications?
My first priority is to stay healthy. And I don’t trust Wells Fargo executives to be organized enough, decisive enough and committed enough to keep the office safe. Therefore I will do whatever it takes to protect myself.
All—this is so, so dangerous. This is a five alarm fire. If anyone knows a business reporter, consider telling them about this.
Awwww, they want us to be “together” during a pandemic that hasn’t stopped ki----g over 1,000 Americans every single day. I’ll have to tell my coworkers—with whom I talk regularly on the phone while working remotely— to stay away from me and I’ll be pointedly piling obstacles around me.
I’m convinced it won’t last long—ie there will be an outbreak pretty much right away. My husband is suggesting we take a 2 week vacation starting 1/10 to let it blow over. Pondering.
If we die of COVID in January they won’t have to pay out bonuses
Not going in. F them.
It’s plain stupid and evil. Especially when you live with older family members and have been doing your best to socially distance and not go into crowded areas. They’ll realize once everyone on a single team gets COVID and work can’t be done. Once the company falls that’ll catch their attention.
They want to ki-l us off because we won’t leave voluntarily.
Attrition. Plain and simple. They won't stop pulling nonsense like this until they've made enough people miserable to the point of quitting. Obviously they haven't reached their goal yet.
I am fine with their decision.
Research has shown that the field of finance attracts a disproportionately high percentage of individuals with anti-social personality disorder (aka sociopathy) in executive ranks. Read up on it, it’s fascinating. Could be a factor? Like you say, it’s hard to believe this extremely dangerous decision is just incompetence.
