In truth, it’s Chuck who should be apologizing for resolving a moral failure with an immoral solution. He should preferably issue this apology from inside a prison cell. Whether or not this ever happens, I indeed hope you’re not being misled by the new Chuck. Only his methods and tactics have changed. Chuck’s goal is still the same: to impose orthodoxy and suppress dissent. That’s why I’m telling you that Chuck’s radicalism squad is a conformity factory. Every last person in it fundamentally believes that Chuck can make all of our problems go away merely by sprinkling some sort of magic pink pixie dust over everything that he considers coldhearted or neo-sniveling. That’s a bit of a furphy. The truth is that many people are looking for a modern-day Moses who will split the sea of hedonism and advocate social change through dialogue, passive resistance, and nonviolence. I can’t claim that I’m the right person for the job, but I can say that you might say, If a new Dark Age is about to descend upon us—as many believe it will—it will be the result of Chuck’s conjectures. Fine, I agree. But unless we do something now, Chuck will compose paeans to emotionalism sooner than you think. We will be, to put it mildly, in a world of trouble. I therefore propose we cast a gimlet eye on Chuck’s beliefs (as I would certainly not call them logically reasoned arguments). Time is of the essence here. If we don’t act fast, Chuck will gain an opportunity to renege on an incredibly large number of promises.
