How to be a slacker and get promoted

I wish the management would explain to us how it is possible that Ford promotes people that everyone knows are some of the biggest slackers.

I’m not jealous, far from it, but I wonder what kind of message it sends to people who actually work hard here? How is it possible that managers believe that people who do nothing are the ones who need to be promoted and that they deserve something more?

Farley is proof of what everyone here is saying. I hear him read his teleprompter and wonder "What in the world has he done to deserve being CEO?" Oh right, he brown-nosed Bill. They are kindred woke spirits.

I would not say that the LL6+ are slackers. Not at all. They are very smart - at brown-nosing the right people, stealing other peoples work and showing that they know more than they actually do. My ex-manager once told me to go "steal with pride".
And totally with @1emw+1eoVGFVH. That is a very important quality to have. Just say something in the meeting, anything, just say it. Coz otherwise its just assumed that you are napping.
Now, do think that is what slackers do? No - only a smart person can be that manipulative.

Best training for LL5 is stand up comedy / improv. Just show up and start talking. Keep talking and don't stop. What you say does not matter. Just need to drown out the other talkers in the room and you will be a LL5.

I'll say it again. The entire LL5 level is totally non-value added and should be eliminated. Just look around at who they really are, and what they actually do, then try to change my mind. I'll be here waiting...

If they kiss a$$ and talk a big game = promotability

This is why I left the company. People who are very effective at their jobs at Ford don’t get promoted for LL levels.

I thought smart mobility = connected data ??

Thats a pure goldmine of cash. Don't sell yourself short.

But us non-connected data people in PD would like to know where the cash is going to come from and when it will start rolling in.

In Smart Mobility, we can all be slackers! No deliverables, no quality control to worry about, no publication of our huge expenses and lack of revenue. Come join us on the “green” side!
