Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Three managers in 18 months

Is this normal? I've been at Bank of America for a little over 18 months and in that time I've had three managers. I used to work in a smaller regional bank and I had the same manager for the four years I was there, so this seems very unusual to me. It might just be a big bank thing, I guess, and I need to get used to it.

my experience for the past few years has been new management approximately every 15 months.

Been this way for the past 20 years. Musical chairs. Dysfunctional management team at the top and lousy HR.

Not sure if it's normal elsewhere but it is normal here. Had 3 new management changes in the first year I was there. Tons of changes as they promote people they like and give them newly created positions and the next person in line gets their previous position where they work briefly to justify their promotion and so on and so on. If you're not promoted in the first year, you're not in the "in" group and never will be.

I had 7 managers in a year and a half, it’s normal in such a dysfunctional company

In addition to the 5 managers, 4 Directors, and 3 VPs in 11 years here, I've also had 12 drummers drumming, 11 pipers piping, 10 lords a-leaping, 9 ladies dancing, 8 maids a-milking, 7 swans a-swimming, 6 geese a-laying, 5 gold rings, 4 calling birds, 3 french hens, 2 turtle doves, and 1 partridge in pear tree.

It is actual normal on this side of the fence, I have seen it both in B of A and in Merrill. Also as stated in a different post they do promote based on who you know, the whole 'you have to be in a position for a year to get promoted', etc goes out the window if you know someone. So it is not rare to change managers more often than expected.

No it’s not normal… likely a sign of the high attrition rates
