If WFC wants us back at the office there could be an outbreak of a (hypothetical) Omega strain and they wouldn't care one bit. It doesn't matter what news comes out about Omicron, it will not change anything. Instead of holding on to false hope, you should start preparing for the inevitable.

Some leaders are just acting out of fear. They may not have the resources to conduct their own research so rely on what they believe to be “trusted” sources. It would be interesting to see what kinds of conflicts of interest that would be disclosed if the scientific/medical community had to disclose all their conflicts similar to the investment advisory industry. Doctors should have to disclose if they receive any financial incentives from insurance providers, pharmaceutical companies and anyone else. Researchers should disclose all sources of funding. Foundations should disclose all funding provided and to whom. Individuals should have to disclose any business entertainment and interactions with government or other agency officials.

Personally, I don’t see it that way. I see it as sometimes fallible human leaders scrambling to contain a new virus which has ki---d 5 million people worldwide and has the potential to morph in to something which we may not be able to foresee at this time. Complicating factors are new information coming in as we get the time to research it, and differences of opinion as to how best mitigate risks. There is a fair share of a$$holes out there who are trying to personally benefit from this, but I think we are in a he-l of a mess and people are for the most part doing the best they can with the information they have at the time.

Serious response. Corporations and governments are run by humans. Humans make decisions based on a variety of factors like fear, greed, and power. You have to start looking at conflicts of interest to really see the driving force. On its surface, it does seem far fetched and crazy. However, if you start digging deeper, you will see all of the conflicts, influence and control.

Personally - I only see governments, economies, medical care, most large and small companies, and citizens being crushed under the weight of this pandemic.
This might likely be the best time in our lives to be looking for a job. There hasn’t been a job seekers market like this in forever, why not at least look around. Sure seems more logical than breaking ones bones.
Yes, both governments and corporations pretend that there are no consequences for their COVID te---r campaigns but it's painfully obvious that there are. Su----e, depression, massive anxiety, heart conditions, undiagnosed diseases (especially cancer) as people are either locked down or have been so scared they won't leave their house. It goes on and on, and these deaths will never be attributed to the perpetrators that caused them. Amazing what happens when you intentionally scare and threaten billions of people for 2 years straight. In the end, as is so often the case, the government 'cure' will be worse than the disease.

I guess she’s hesitant to upend her career over one poor decision from management? She’s invested a lot of her life in this company? It’s likely the company will come to its senses and back down after a few employee infections/hospitalizations/deaths, but she doesn’t want to risk her son’s life in that first wave? It’s easy to flippantly toss out comments like that, but a bit more complicated when you’re in the person’s shoes.

I have a frightened colleague who has a kid with health problems who wants to take a week or two of PTO starting 1/10, but is afraid she won’t get approval. So she’s thinking about deliberately breaking a bone so she can get medical leave. Yes, you read that correctly. That is where we are at this point. I hope this reckless plan is put to an end with an email from management TODAY.
Bank Owned Liability Insurance (BOLI). Wells Fargo already has individual policies on each of us that pays out to the company in the event that we pass. This is in addition to what we all already carry that’s paid out to our loved ones and next of kin with life insurance. BOLI basically covers losses to the business for disruption caused by loosing assets/people that are trained and part of critical day to day infrastructure at the bank. In less sinister times, the policy proceeds would be used to mitigate any operational losses and train replacement workers. In the age of Charlie, any payout will go back to Wells Fargo, and no replacement personnel would be brought in. Spoilers. They’re planning on cashing in on death and misery.
WF has made it clear they don't give a frick about their reputation or their employees. Customers have short memories so this benefits WF to force attrition with little reputational consequences.
Everyone just tell your manager you are showing symptoms and won’t be coming in. If enough people do it they will get the message and they will have no legal recourse.
Wells should buy life insurance policies on the weakest, oldest, and fattest employees and make them RTO first.
As long as they've confirmed they will face no backlash in the form of legal consequences in the event someone gets horribly sick or dies, we're headed back to the office. I can assure you natural attrition by way of death is a bonus for Charlie.
This would apple to most large companies. It's not just a WF issue.
