Thread regarding Ford layoffs

What happened with the lawsuits from the 2019 layoffs??

When longtime, close to full retirement employees were unceremoniously let go with barely a thank you?

Then the pandemic hit crippling the courts. Did those lawsuits ever move forward? Or did Ford quietly settle and get non-disclosures signed to protect the company name?

The lawsuit brought by 8 former employees was settled out of court last month.

It was not so much about salary as it was health care costs. Getting rid of someone just short of 55 or 30 years saves the potentially huge cost of health care from 55 to 65. They apparently did not get enough so they found another way to save by dumping retirees to the exchange.

@3jme+1eqblM3D actually not. They have been bringing the ones in the US in at ridiculously high, given their experience, pay packages. Under grads, no experience at or just under 6 figures. Then, in a couple years they are management so in the end, really no savings. Add to the money lost through potential law suits and the ALL THE QUALITY problems- you have then Ford's famous bad business decisions.

Ford is simply replacing high cost labor with cheaper labor. No laws against that.

Employees who are about to retire is not a protected class,

but if employees who are about to retire, were disporpotionally targeted, happen to be older, then it is age discrimination. ( unless all of a sudden everyone young and old plans to retire? then no problem. I mean, if a 24yo retires equally in frequency as a 54yo )

I read they go to trial in January. Federal court as well.

That didn't answer the question.

"Employees who are about to retire" is not a protected class, unfortunately.
