Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Hundreds of Customer Service Reps to be declared surplus in San Diego? Anyone have the facts?

Supposedly the building needs to be vacated by 3/1/2022 and one option is to follow the work 50 miles away . What gives ?

ATT wins another battle to bust the Union. Of course they just have to kick them out of the same bed !

Then after they close the Tustin office you can all go to HR1stop and put in to relocate to the office in Mumbai. Business is booming there.

A 53 mile drive in bumper to bumper LA traffic just to work for AT&T? Scrw that! there are much better opportunities out there. Find a job with a company that appreciates its workers.

Oh, and F the CWA. A complete waste of union dues.

Unbelievable that we would run a call center in such a good cost of living area. We could open one in Rivierside or Vicyorville and people would be thrilled to have the work at a much lower cost to the business.

50 miles in horrible traffic - maybe an option is to live out of the car in the short term? Until another opportunity opens up that is closer to home? But then if these employees have children that depend on them, it will not be an option. Such a shame.

Rumor is follow the work to Tustin which is 53 miles from San Diego location. I guess you could call the Union Local 9509. ? The answer will be “Huh what don’t know… just keep paying those dues !”

AT&T should loo into virtual assistant. It is so much better than customer service rep.

Cheaper to send work overseas, Mexico or outsourcing to India.

The San Ramon (CA) complex has also been mostly vacated except for 2 floors in the West wing & half a floor in the North Wing. The building was sold several years ago but AT&T has been leasing back the North & West wings. It's amazing to think about all the money that was wasted re-stacking the building to support Workplace 2020 (open/shared space) only to dismantle everything a few years later.

You people had to see this coming. Maybe you can all just telecommute.

What office are they offering you? Not many left in CA. San Diego, Tustin, & Van Nuys. With SD closing, that only leaves 2.

When it was the Comm Techs that worked there, no one cared
The local is run mostly by Service Reps
Now 15 years later, the company came for everyone else

50 miles isn't bad if you want to keep the job and especially if single and a renter
