Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Those who want to get laid off

It is only a matter of time before the layoffs happen. I have a few colleagues who openly say they can’t wait to be paid to leave. Isn't it better to choose when to leave the company than for the NOV to decide that for you? I don't know, I hope to leave before they give me layoff.

What interests me is how do people like this, who actually want to get cut, try to increase their chances of ending up on the cut list? Because, I notice that those who are constantly saying that they would like to be the target work the hardest.

I shouldn't worry about NOV not being able to hire enough people there is an abundance of fools waiting to play their next role in life.

Well severance isn't always guaranteed. I don't think I've seen it go away but the amounts have changed. If the climate is bad enough you can volunteer for a lay off also, I have seen that but only when layoffs were planned. Right now we can't get enough people hired.

Could have years and get severance pay up to 1 year.

They are too lazy to get a new job, too fearful, they are a disgrace and a let down to their family.

Maybe they have a ton of money saved up and they want to be able to file for unemployment. That way, they can get paid for laying on the couch and scratching their unemployed a ss all day long.
