Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Scary to read about

I hope that everything will end well for the Baytown employees after the explosion happened. It was scary to read the news about it.

Is it high time our "esteemed" leadership did something more about employee safety in general, or will we hear more and more tragic news like this in the future?

And maintenance “transformation” is actively advocating doing less maintenance, fewer strategies and pushing first line maintenance to operators. What could go wrong…
Of course those pushing for “Transformation” will never have to work at the locations where they are pushing for change….

I left primarily due to safety concerns. My former site will see a fatality or debilitating injury in the next 3 years as personal safety standards decline and 'Band Aid' deferred maintenance practices prevail.

Maybe they will promote another bonnin son, oh wait they already did, look at announcements. The old sls had no clue how to run a unit that he got PIP’d and sent to BMT to be with the tech manager. Wouldn’t be surprised if that id--t gets away with no accountability.

Does anyone know what happened in Baytown?

I'd normally have that warm Xmas yule-log fire cable channel on tomorrow morning.
Spirits bright.
But this year I'll be looping the Baytown fire videos.
More colorful and closer to home.

Some EM executives should be spending next holiday on the federal dime.

Twelve hour shifts, rotating from day to night shift every few days, working 20 days straight with 1 off.... what could go wrong. The culture at this place needs to change if anyone is serious about safety.

PIP, fire, marginalized and alienate your technical organization and then outsource site critical activities oversees...this is what you get.

From what I’ve seen internally “leaders” are looking to blame the front line workers for not making the right decisions, Amazon-style.

Yes, terrible leadership. These safety mishaps keep happening again and again and again in the recent past. Just two weeks back - but hardly heard about, that the company had to pay a hefty fine due to their irresponsibility at a gas plant in the UK. The company name indicated here is Esso, but oh, convenient for Exxon is that I guess not everyone knows Exxon owns Esso.
