Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Why am I even still here?

I guess it's true what they say, Christmas is a time for reflection. And the one thing I keep coming back to is how unhappy I am with my job. I'm a 48-year-old man who dreads his work. There are many reasons for it and I won't bore you with them since you all know all too well what they are. I think I'm done. I have enough savings to be able to quit, relax for a bit, and then start looking for a new job. For the past two years, I kept finding reasons why I can't do that, but I'm done with it. I can do it, that's a fact. So I plan to give in my notice next week. Life is too short to spend half of each of your days miserable.

If you are that miserable, resign as soon as you can. This may not be the best place to work. But I bet at least 200 other people with they had your job.

Almost ready to retire. I really like what I'm doing. The insurance is good and it's a known as opposed to a new new job and unknown. Right now I'm a top performer in my department. To be honest I don't want to start over at another company. Unfortunately Management could care less about my and my family's needs. My last almost 2 years at home have been great but I guess it's time to put away my fears and move on.

A lot of us have stayed because even though we are unhappy we like the job we do and are good at it, or because we like the people we work with, because we’re comfortable, because B of A makes you feel like they are the best of the best & there aren’t better options/benefits out there, or a big reason many have stayed is because we’ve just been waiting to collect severance. Whatever your reason(s), I think a lot of people are choosing happiness, health, & family over a company that only pretends to value those things. I haven’t heard anyone that left BofA say they wish they had stayed, so I’m sure everything will work out for you. Good luck!!

Always better luck landing a better job when you already have a job.
Find a job first, then quit. When you are unemployed, you have less leverage in negotiating your new salary and some companies will pass right over you if you are a quitter.

Hang in there, you can do it!

You are so close to February… stay to collect your bonus - whatever it is. Then resign the following business day, Feb. 16.

I was in your shoes a year ago. It’s actually good you can take some time for yourself post-BofA. Someone said “there’s a reason the rear-view mirror is so small and the windshield in front of you is so big and wide.”

Good luck to you and happy holidays!
