Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Just a few more days

I spent months looking for a new job and I finally managed to land something a few days ago. I'm waiting for next week to give my notice and that's the best Christmas/New Year's gift I can give myself. Let me just use this opportunity to remind everybody: the best time to search for a new job is when you already have one. Take advantage of that while you can.

You get paid for unused vacation.
If you don't actually use your sick time, it's lost.
When you put in your notice doesn't matter. You're entitled to it either way.
Be forewarned- in my department when you put in your two weeks, you're given a box and security is called. They monitor you while you pack up, collect your badge, and escort you to your car.... unused sick days lost.

Non-Troll, genuine inquiry by a newbie... When the new year starts and we resign, are you saying we get paid our vacation and sick alottment or are you saying you take your vacation and sick alottment and then resign? I'm asking bc I find myself open to new adventures but haven't been with the company very long. I didn't even know we get sick pay until a few months ago :-/

@soq+1ev2iZzx it seems your trolling here indicates your spirit cannot move on, and you have to continue haunting your old halls.
You didn’t use the sick time allotted, but brag like a snowflake of getting the vacation pay that was due? So lame.
Move on and live your new life if you can.

@soq, if life’s good now, and you left years ago, why you still hanging out here like some jaded ex stalking?

Congrats! Did the same as you a few years ago. When I knew I was going to leave, I waited until the new year so that vacation and sick time reset and then gave notice. I didn’t use the sick time, but the vacation pay was a nice parting gift.
