Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

No more WFH

Just got word from my manager that EVERYONE needs to report in the office. Thy will will run a report to ensure that everyone is coming into the office. We are grown adults, they are treating us like children. We have successfully worked from home for almost two years. Why not let us work from home a couple times a week?

I work in a branch in NE Florida and I am considered highly risk. I am taking my son to move into his dorm 1/3 & 1/4, I mentioned to my manager that it may be wise for me to finish the week (Wednesday-Friday) from home since the chances of me being exposed (no matter how careful) could be greater. Bc I may not know it until later Inthe week. Ito protect my colleagues and clients. He said No. I can do my job from home. I have a corporate phone and laptop. I was honestly shocked.

You absolutely can talk to your colleagues about salaries and there's multiple Supreme Court cases over the years that back that up. Anyone at BoA who told you otherwise is full of bologna. He-l, let them fire you for talking about wages. That's a quick win for any employment lawyer in the country.

Unions, not a chance. "Management" cannot join a union. Anyone that has AVP, VP, SVP as a "title" is considered management

To the previous poster: you mentioned you "work overtime but don't log the hours because your manager will have something to say about it". The bank takes that very seriously. The bank ABSOLUTELY must pay you for ALL hours worked. From reading your post, it seems your manager creates an intimidating environment where the team is fearful to say anything about the unrealistic workload, and needing to work, hence getting paid OT. I suggest filing an anonymous Code of Conduct violation via Flagscape, which will get investigated by HR. You can also contact the US Dept of Labor for your (OT) wages you are not being paid (more aggressive approach).

Why can’t we unionize?

I don’t take a lunch or a break, I frequently work overtime but don’t include it on my timesheet because then the manager has something to say about it. Also, if you speak up and say it’s too much work then you’re considered weak and acquire a bad reputation. All this while getting paid peanuts.

I mean it’s obviously the workers fault for not speaking up for their interests, but when you’re not allowed to talk to your peers about salary, and you also don’t have a union backing you up, it becomes very easy for the poor working stiff to get taken advantage of.

RTO will be postponed while pandemic is surging! WFH is the only option to safeguard the health of the workforce and their families.

Better yet, time to unionize. Maybe that would get the execs to listen.

Time to dust off the resume. LOTS of jobs out there right now so don't be afraid to poke around!

My group has been back in the office EVERYDAY since August. My manager is afraid to speak up to management who are out of state and it’s called maximizing sick time.

They think they’re going to strong arm me into quitting but no way, they’re gonna have to fire me. I will continue working from home.

"doesn't matter what your situation or needs are". I'll be damned if my medical accommodation gets denied. Sorry - taking my doctor's recommendations over the bank's.

I thought I heard a hybrid plan was coming down the road. They're out of their mind if they think people aren't going to leave. Come January if they dont come out with a plan, watch what happens.

Forced attrition. They need to meet that "responsible growth" number by reducing operating expense asap.

Wow really? I though the tide was going in the opposite direction with everyone getting sick.

How disgusting of them, literally no reason why they can’t afford the working man a little bit of flexibility.

Also this is happening to us because we are aren’t high value employees like those at tech companies. We won’t fight back and demand better because we’re so beholden to our jobs and they know this. What a power trip.

What LOB is this? Are they really not going to allow any type of flexibility?
